A Platform for Cooperation between Academia and Industry

TKU is one of the leading universities in the ever-expanding field of culture and creative industries. It offers a diverse array of courses that provide students with cross-discipline knowledge and expertise related to Taiwan’s culture and creative industries. For this reason TKU was invited, by the Chinese Television System, to jointly establish a “Platform for Cooperation between Academia and Industry”. The opening ceremony for the “Platform for Cooperation” was held on October 31 with the President of TKU, Dr. Flora Chia-I Chang, in attendance.

The TKU World Alumni Association Biennial Conference

Every two years, the Tamkang University World Alumni Association (TUWAA) holds a major conference that brings together Tamkang alumni from Taiwan, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and North America. The next TUWAA Conference is scheduled to take place in Malaysia (for the first time) on 23rd August, 2012, and will be attended by over 600 TKU alumni.

Egg Roll Festival Sweeps Tamkang

Each year, as TKU celebrates its anniversary, an assortment of fun activities are held on or around the ‘University Commons’. The activities are collectively known as “Egg Roll Festival” due to the similarity in sound of the Chinese name for the University Commons and that of “Egg Roll”.

TKU Academic Departments Celebrate Respective Anniversaries

On the 12th November, Tamkang University will turn 61. At the same time, several TKU academic departments will celebrate their own milestones, including the Department of Chinese (to turn 55), the Department of Japanese (45), the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering (40), the Department of Physics (48), and the Department of Transportation Management (25). To mark these significant accomplishments, each will hold a range of celebratory activities.

The 66th Conference on Administrative Affairs

The 66th Conference on Administrative Affairs was held on the 4th November at the Chueh Sheng International Conference Hall. The conference incorporated webcam technology to link the Lanyang and Tamsui campuses.

College of Business Establishes Enquiry Office

From 21st October to 8th December, the TKU College of Business will offer enquiry and information services to students through the ‘College of Business Short-term Enquiry Office’. The office will provide information on overseas study options for students considering going abroad. It will also provide students with information on professional license courses, such as those related to insurance, securities, and international trade.

Publicizing Jade Mountain’s Bid for the World Stage

Recently, students from Tamkang University, Aletheia University, and St. John’s University gathered to promote a significant cause. The students are members of the “Vote for Jade Mountain Club” and have been busy raising awareness of Jade Mountain’s bid for the ‘7 natural wonders of the world’. On the 28th, they assembled in front of the Danshui MRT Station to urge local residents to cast an all-important vote.
