The Single Largest Donation Ever Made to Tamkang

Over the last 17 years, alumnus Hsu Hang-Chien, from the former Department of Management Science, has given generously to his alma mater, TKU. But his recent offering has lifted his largess to a new level. He has decided to pump a staggering NT $120 million (approx. US $4 million) over the next five years into the construction of the proposed TKU International Conference Center. To formalize the donation, a signing ceremony is set to be held at 3:30pm at the Chueh Sheng International Conference Hall, Tamsui Campus.

A Joint Publication on EU Power

On May 13, the TKU Graduate Institute of European Studies, the TKU Center for European Union Studies, and National Taiwan University will jointly hold a book launch at the Ching Sheng Memorial Hall, Tamsui Campus, for the new book “The Mutual Exercises of EU Soft and Hard Power”. The opening ceremony of the book launch will feature opening remarks by Shih-Chu Tang, the Chief Editor of National Taiwan University Press, and Marc Chia-Ching Cheng, the Executive Director of the European Union Center in Taiwan; and will be attended by Kuo Chiu Ching, the chief editor of the newly published book and Director of the TKU Graduate Institute of European Studies.

A Major Conference to be Held at Tamkang

On May 17 & 18, a large international conference will be held at the Chueh Sheng International Conference Center, Tamsui Campus. Organized by the TKU Department of Educational Technology, the 2013 International Conference on E-Learning Trends for 21st Century Learning Technology will feature opening remarks from the President of TKU, Dr. Flora Chia-I Chang, and will draw over 200 scholars from several countries including Taiwan, America, Singapore, and Canada. The Conference will explore the following topics: mobile learning technology, social interaction apps, and applying IT to instruction, among others.

Moral Integrity Delivered in a Speech and a Night Club

This year is the “year of moral integrity” at Tamkang University. Accordingly, the Office of Student Affairs has organized a string of activities to elevate the sense of moral awareness and raise moral character at the Tamsui Campus. One such activity was a speech given by Dr. Lin Huo-Wang, a distinguished professor from the Department of Philosophy, National Taiwan University. The topic of the speech was “Moral Integrity – The Factor that Determines Success or Failure”.
