TKU Wins 6 Gold Medals and 3 Bronzes in 2014 FIRA, TKU Reigns in RoboSot 9 Times in a Row

【Tamkang Times】Professor from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Director of the Intelligent Automation and Robotics Center, Ching-chang Wong, with Assistant Professors Chi-tai Cheng and Shih-an Li lead the Intelligent Automation Robotics team to Beijing to compete in the 19th Annual Federation of International Robot-Soccer Association (FIRA) robot soccer competition from November 6th to the 10th. The team’s performance was exceptional, winning six gold medals and three bronze medals.

TKU Embraces Cloud Technology Education

The event was hosted by Chief Information Officer, Chin-hwa Kuo, who invited Director of the Institute for the Information Industry, Te-tai Liu, to detail the TibaMe online study course. Lanyang Campus also attended the meeting via video conference.

Counseling Section Receives Intern Certification for Psychology

【Reported by Yi-ru Chen, Tamkang Times】The Counseling Section was honored with the 2014 official Intern Certification for counseling psychology by the Taiwanese Counseling Association on November 8th and received praise from National Taiwan Normal University. Director of the Counseling Section, Yen-wei Hu, stated, “It’s wonderful to be able to receive this qualification for psychology that verifies our professionalism. I want to give thanks to President Flora Chia-I Chang, officials and co-workers for all of your help and support.”

TKU Aerospace Forum Attracts 70 Educators

【Reported by Yi-ling Huang, Tamkang Times】On November 18th and 19th the Department of Aerospace Engineering held the 9th Annual Cross-Strait Aerospace Academic Forum, inviting 70 educators from Beihang University, Tsing Hua University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, National Taiwan Institute of Applied Mechanics and Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation for an exchange of expertise.

【Reported by Yu-xuan Li, Tamkang Times】The 2014 namelist of outstanding students has been completed, awarding 15 students from various departments. The ceremony to honor the students with this prestigious award will take place on December 2nd. This year the Outstanding Youth Award will be given to students from colleges of Science, Education, International Affairs, Global Development, Foreign Languages and Literature, Engineering and Business and Management.

【Reported by Xue-fen Ma, Tamkang Times】The Department of Global Politics and Economics is holding the “Early Bird Study Time, “ for midterms from 10am to 6pm. For the eight hour time slot, students will be able to have coffee, hot cocoa, milk tea and snacks. There will also be postcards being sold during the assembly. Second-year student of the Department of Political Economics, Pei-ru Deng, stated, “Just like everybody else I’m up half the night preparing for exams. This study meeting allows me to catch my breath and refresh my energy a bit. It’s excellent!”

Internal Management Training at TKU

【Reported by Qing-shi Huang, Tamkang Times】The Office of Quality Assurance and Audit held the “Internal Management Training” camp on November 21st in the Chueh-sheng International Hall. Director of the Office of Quality Assurance and Audit, Di-ching Pai, hosted the event and invited Accounting Manager of Deloitte Taiwan, Shu-wen Shi, to give a lecture on how to manage efficiently. There were almost 100 individuals in attendance.
