A contest organized by the Maritime Museum will reveal their winners on November 3. The award ceremony for the contest which is named “Tamkang Landscape with E-Pen” will be held at the same time.
E-Pen is a software program that fuses artistic creativity and technological innovation and is the brainchild of TKU artists and computer programmers. It was jointly developed by Dr. Chang Ben-hang, the deputy director of the Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center, Professor Horng Wen-bing, an expert in information technology, and Dr. Kuo Chin-hwa, the director of the Distance Learning Center, under the supervision of Dr. Kao Po-yuan, the vice president for Administrative Affairs. This software allows users to practice Chinese calligraphy and draw pictures with pencils and water colors.
The contest has lasted several weeks during which contestants could practice with the software as many times as possible so as to choose the best work for competition. Their works will be on display in the coming month. ( ~Ying-hsueh Hu )
