OPEN DOOR DAY AT THE DORM IN LANYANG

Despite the short history of Lanyang Campus, several traditions have been well established. One of them was the “dormitory competition” held on last Wednesday (22), which was running for the second year voting for the best-kept room. It was also an “Open Door” day, so anyone could drop by to check out how other people live. Since the dorm is not coed, it is fairly exciting for the opposite sex to visit each other’s living space. Are boys really worse off than girls or can boys be house-proud, too? That was a good day to find out.

In order to impress the visitors, and of course, the opposite sex, a lot of students spent hours cleaning up and decorating their place the best they could the day before the competition. To make the visit even more attractive, female students showed off their skill in making homemade chocolates for sale, and most probably use them to “sweeten up” the judges for favorable impression. Apparently they did work as they were sold out in no time.

The Vice Director for the Female Students Dorm Committee, Cheng Ji-Hsian stressed that those chocolates were made for people to give away to those who they care about. She was pleased that they were very well received and pointed out that students from the neighboring university, Fo Guang, also dropped by to make some purchases. However, the most honorable guest that dropped by unexpectedly was Dr. Feng Chao-kang, the Vice President for the Academic Affairs, who arrived the day before of the competition to experience students’ life on campus. He was warmly greeted by everyone. ( ~Ying-hsueh Hu )
