The 20th session of the council members election counted the vote at 7 o’clock on last Thursday evening (December 20). There were only 839 ballot papers collected from both Tamsui and Lanyang campuses. 7 council members were elected, with 2 members from College of Management, 1 from College of Engineering, 1 from the College of Business, 2 from College of College of Foreign Languages and Literatures, and 1 from College of Entrepreneurial Development.

Among the 7 council members, 4 were reelected, including Chen Xu-rui (junior of the Department of Public Administration), Huang Ting-xuan (junior of Department of Civil Engineering), You Yu-hsuan (senior of Department of Insurance), Chen Si-ming (junior of Department of Japanese), and the other 3 are new members, including Pan Yan-zhang (freshman of Department of Civil Engineering), Zhao Xin-rou (junior of Department of Russian), and Song Hong-yi (freshman of Department of Software Engineering ).

The voting rate this year is much lower than those in previous years. The voting rate in Tamsui campus is approximately 2.1%. The voting rate in Lanyang Campus, which kept about 40 %, decreases to 33.2%.

The Chair of Election Committee, Lee Hui-ying, junior of Department of Russian remarks, “our fellow schoolmates lack of the interest in participating in this election. The ballot in College of Management and College of Business are more active, while those in other colleges are below expectation. She observes that the low ballot rate may be attributed to the small number of campaign candidates and the Council’s inactive promotion of such an election. She expects that “in the future the schoolmates can participate with more interest to enhance the autonomous democracy of the campus.” (~ Jaime Liu )
