2010 TAN-HAI MUSIC FESTIVAL IMMERSED THE CAMPUS IN THE SOUND OF MUSIC

2010 Tan-hai Music Festival, a special event of TKU, took place from April 12 to 15. Co-held by 11 musical clubs of TKU, including Chinese Zither Club, Guitar Club, Classic Guitar Club, String-instrument Playing Social Club, Song and Lyric Writing Club, Piano Playing Club, Harmonica Club, Western Music Club, Chinese Music Club, Wind Ensemble Club, and Tamkang Chorus, the Music Festival immersed the campus in the sound of music.

Piano Playing Club held Chopin 200th Anniversary Concert and Piano & Friends Midterm Presentation at Carrie Chang Music Hall on April 12 and 13, in which the ensemble of various instruments and melodious notes delivered the enjoyment of ease and comfort to the audience. Song and Lyric Writing Club also held a small concert at Chueh Hsuan Garden on April 14, and the cheering sounds from the audience never stopped while the 8 bands took turns to perform. The crowd even kept yelling encores after the last band’s performance.

The United Concert in the evening on April 15 was held in a grander manner, which included 20 songs performed by the 11 clubs. It started with a famous piano four hands repertoire “Too Hot to Samba,” that showed the masterful skills of the pianist from Piano Playing Club. And then, Tamkang Chorus’s vigorous song “Lion King” was followed by “Grandfather’s Clock,” “The Blue Danube,” and “Radetzky March” presented by String-instrument Playing Social Club, Wind Ensemble Club, and Chinese Music Club respectively. Fascinated by the beautiful melody, all the audience clapped their hands with the music, and even swung their body along with the rock music brought by Song and Lyric Writing Club, Guitar Club, Western Music Club in the latter half of the concert. “The professional ensemble of wind and string music plus the original songs created by Song and Lyric Writing Club all took my breath away with astonishment. Tan-hai Music Festival is really cool!” said a junior Cheng Ya-wen from Dept. of Mass Communication. ( ~Shu-chun Yen )
