Tamkang Wins EPA Environmental Award

Tamkang University recently became the first university in Taiwan to receive the highest honor awarded by the Executive Yuan’s Executive Protection Administration (EPA): the 20th ROC Enterprise Environmental Protection Award. The award will be presented to Tamkang University at a ceremony to be held on Oct 28.

Outstanding Tamkang Teachers Rewarded

The Taiwan Ministry of Education (MOE) rewards teachers for longstanding service at institutes of higher education. It does so by gifting such teachers with cash prizes and subsidies.

TKU Academic Funding Increases

Under the University Development Scheme, the Taiwan Ministry of Education provides private universities with subsidies designed to enhance the academic competitiveness of such institutions. This year, TKU received NT 30 million in funding, which represents a significant increase from that of previous years.

Seminars to Advance Gender and Science

On October 1 and 2, two seminars are set to be held at the Chung-ling Chemistry Hall on the TKU Tamsui Campus. They are the 2011 Gender and Technology Seminar and the Taiwan Feminist Scholars Association Annual Seminar. The seminars, which will discuss “Feminism in Taiwan”, “Gender and Nuclear Power”, and “Homosexual Research”, are jointly organized by the TKU Department of Chemistry, the Taiwan Feminist Scholars Association, and the TKU Committee for Gender Equality.
