30-Years Achievements of TQM in Tamkang University

On October 14th, the ceremony of signing the MOU between Tamkang university and Chinese Society for Quality (CSQ) was held at Chang Yeo Lan International Conference Hall of the Hsu Shou-Chien International Conference Center. President Dr. Huan-Chao Keh, Chairperson Dr. Flora Chia-I Chang, 3 vice presidents, all first- and second- level supervisors from TKU, as well as Chairman Robert S. Y. Lu, Secretary General Chen, executive supervisor Liu from CSQ, and more than 150 guests attended the ceremony. The MOU was signed by President Keh and Chairman Lu on behalf of both parties, aiming at improving quality and educating talents. The ceremony unveils the celebration of the 30th anniversary of promoting Total Quality Management (TQM) in Tamkang.

Hsiao-Tsu Wang: 2 Papers Published in World Famous Journals

Assistant Professor Hsiao-Tsu Wang, from Bachelor’s Program in Advanced Materials Science, has 2 academic papers published in world famous journals as co-author and joint first author respectively : 1) “A single-atom library for guided monometallic and concentration-complex multimetallic designs” in Nature Materials whose impact factor is 47.7, and 2) “Bandgap Shrinkage and Charge Transfer in 2D Layered SnS2 Doped with V for Photocatalytic Efficiency Improvement” in Small with impact factor 15.5.

Yi-Ting Huang Overturns Study with Integrated Innovative Teaching

Center for Teacher Professional Development held Innovative Teaching Lecture on October 7th. During the activity, Associate Professor Yi-Ting Huang from the Department of Interaction Design, National Taipei University of Technology was invited to deliver a speech on “Our Students are Our Coaches – Course Design Inspires the ability of Innovative Thinking and Putting forward Proposals”. More than 30 teachers were present.

Digital Transformation Analysis -- Jung-Kuei Chang Talked about the Trend and Challenge of AI under the Development of Metaverse

Office of Human Resources held a training lecture for the administrative faculty at Ching-sheng International Conference Hall at 10 AM, October 19th. Dr. Jung-Kuei Chang, an alumnus of Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering and Department of Management Sciences and Chairman of Ai3 Co., was invited to give a speech on the Trend and Challenge of AI under the Development of Metaverse. Dr. Hui-Huang Hsu, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and nearly one hundred colleagues were at present.

Share of Outstanding Teaching Practice Project: Hui-Chun Hung’s Experience of Hands-on Courses

Teaching, practice and research, which one is the focus in teaching practice research project? Starting with this question, Assistant Professor Hui-Chun Hung from Graduate Institute of Network Learning Technology, National Central University asked his audience. On October 14th, Center for Teacher Professional Development held the Achievement Sharing of Outstanding Teaching Practice Research Project of 2020 Academic Year. The topic of the event was Course design for Independent-Study-Oriented Skill Learning: Thinking and Practice of Teaching Practice Project. About 20 teachers were at present.

Agricultural Moment Project Donated Books to Xinxing Elementary School; Pupils thrilled to know Vanilla

Agricultural Moment, A USR project, donated the picture book How Much Do You Know About Vanilla? To Xinxing Elementary School on October 18th. Shang-Wen Kao, Sub-Investigator of the project, Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of History, gave the picture books produced under the project to the pupils of first and second grades and enthusiastically interacted with them in class.

New Book Exhibition 2022 by Publishing Center

Tamkang University encompasses diverse and affluent academic and cultural resources, especially the works of our faculty and students. These are wonderful records and intimate connections of Tamkang. The Publishing Center hopes to well preserve them in books for more people to enjoy and improve the cohesion of Tamkangians. Hung-Chung Hsueh, Dean of the Office of Research and Development, shared this vision. Publishing Center of the Office of Research and Development held new book exhibition at Chueh Sheng Memorial Library from October 11th to 21st, to launch the new books published in 2022. The theme this year is “Sleepless in Academics and Romance: New Book Exhibition of Publishing Center, Tamkang University”.

Master’s and Doctoral Program Admissions by Screening Test Start

The Admission Guide for Master’s and Doctoral Program 2023 academic year has been issued on October 11th. Altogether 48 master’s programs and 13 doctoral programs are recruiting. Online application lasts from 10AM, November 1st to 14PM, November 14th. Payment deadline is 14PM, November 14. Examination will be on December 4th, while the list of admitted candidates will be published on December 15th. Tamkang will not Provide Printing Service From 2023 Academic Year

Academic Affairs Conference of the first semester of 2022 academic year was held at Ching-Sheng International Conference Hall on October 19th. Dr. Tzong-Ru Tsai, Dean of the Office of Academic Affairs hosted the conference. Dr. Hui-Huang Hsu, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Chun-Hung Lin, Vice President for Administrative Affairs & Lanyang Campus, dean of each college, chairman of each department, representatives of the faculty and students were at present. Colleagues from Lanyang Campus attended online.
