Kendo Club Won 3 Gold and 3 Bronze Medals at the College Championship
The Kendo Club participated in the College Championship, bravely securing 3 gold and 3 bronze medals. Everyone joyfully took a group photo.

The College Kendo Championship for the 2023 academic year took place at National Taipei University of Marine Science and Technology from November 18 to 19. Our university's Kendo Club demonstrated its strength, standing out in various categories and securing a total of 3 gold and 3 bronze medals.

Midterm Camp for Club Leaders, Reflect, Settle, and Set out Again
The extracurricular group held a "Midterm Reflection Camp for Club Leaders" from November 25 to 26, and everyone took a group photo after the opening ceremony.

The Extracurricular Activity Guidance Section held the "Mid-term Reflection Camp for Club Leaders" from November 25 to 26 at the Student Activity Center and the Main Engineering Building during the 2023 academic year. 16 staff members led nearly a hundred club executives, examining the current status of the clubs and identifying the best ways to operate them through courses and activities. During the process, they shared their experiences in managing clubs, rediscovering the initial intentions and enthusiasm for serving as executives.

On November 29, the Center for Sustainability and Social Innovation held the "2023 Tamkang University Sustainability Report Compilation Launch Meeting" at the Chueh-Sheng International Conference Hall. The meeting was presided over by Vice President for Academic Affairs and Director of the Sustainability and Social Innovation Center, Dr. Hui-Huang Hsu. Participants included Vice President for Administration, Dr. Chun-Hung Lin, Secretary-General, Dr. Ai-Hwa Andy Liu, first- and second-level supervisors, staff, as well as project leaders for the University Social Responsibility (USR) initiative.

Alumni Gathered for the Indonesia Biennial Meeting, Dennis Chen Re-elected as the President of TKU Worldwide Alumni Association
TKU Worldwide Alumni Association held a conference in Indonesia from November 25 to 27. Alumni from around the world gathered in Jakarta to participate the 2023 World Alumni Association Conference.

"Tamkang Spirit, Global Connection" - After a hiatus of 3 years, Tamkang University Worldwide Alumni Association held the first member meeting of 14th General Assembly in Indonesia from November 25 to 27. Nearly 500 alumni from around the world gathered in Jakarta for the grand event. The alumni unanimously elected Hon. Dr. Dennis Chen, Chairman of WIN Semiconductors Corp., as the President for another term during the member meeting on November 26. Mr. Shu-Chung Lee was reappointed as the Secretary-General. The appointment certificates were presented by President Huan-Chao Keh.

President Keh Awarded the National Sustainable Development Award

Our school was honored with the National Sustainable Development Award in the Education category by the National Council for Sustainable Development of the Executive Yuan in 2023. On November 30, President Huan-Chao Keh attended the award ceremony at the NTUH International Convention Center, where he received the trophy from Dr. Chien-Jen Chen, Director of the National Council for Sustainable Development of the Executive Yuan and Premier of the Executive Yuan. Academic Vice President and Director of Sustainable Development and Social Innovation Hui-Huang Hsu, Chief Audit Executive Yen-Ling Lin, Dean of General Affairs Ruey-Shiang Shaw, and Chief Information Officer Chin-Hwa Kuo accompanied the ceremony.

TKU faculty and Students Declare a Sustainable, Zero-emission Green Living, Implementing Carbon Reduction on Campus
On November 22, the Student Affairs Office held the "TKU Carbon Green Living" declaration ceremony, and afterward, everyone joyfully took a group photo.

The university's efforts in promoting sustainability have been honored with the 2023 National Sustainable Development Award in the education category. This achievement marks a comprehensive stride towards the goals of a “green campus” and “sustainable development.” On November 22, at 12:00 PM, the Student Affairs Office organized the “TKU Carbon Green Living” declaration ceremony in the pedestrian walkway in front of the Liberal Arts Building. Led by the Academic Vice President and Director of the Sustainability Center, Dr. Hui-Huang Hsu, first-level supervisors signed the “Sustainable Zero-Emission Green Living Declaration,” pledging to make concerted efforts to implement carbon reduction actions.

The Distance Education Center Launches Courses on Effective Usage of AI – Tamkang Tiger Cub Proves to Be a Powerful Aid for Teachers
The Center for Distance Education Development organizes a seminar on AI-assisted Innovative Teaching and Practical Research, with CIO Chin-Hwa Kuo delivering the opening remarks.

On November 21, from 12:00 to 14:00, the Center for Distance Education Development at the Office of Information Services held the “2023 Smart Future GO! SPROUT Seminar on Digital Learning: AI-assisted Innovative Teaching and Practical Research - Application of Personal Digital Assistant in Improving Project Writing” in room I501. They invited Distinguished Professor Chih-Yung Chang from the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, and Wei-Ting Chang, Head of the Network Management Section at the Office of Information Services, to teach the application of digital assistants. They humorously explained that a total of 146 teachers actively participated in the on-site and online synchronous learning, making “Tamkang Tiger Cub” a valuable assistant in teaching and administration.

The 59th Annual Meeting of the Chinese Society for Quality (CSQ) and the 2023 International Symposium on Quality Management (ISQM) took place grandly on November 18 at the Hsu Shou Chlien International Conference Center of our university. Themed “Sustainable Development and Corporate Transformation,” the event was jointly organized by CSQ and the Department of Business Administration of our university. The conference spanned the entire day, featuring award ceremonies to commend units demonstrating excellence in quality.

2023 Global Highly Cited Researchers List — Statistics on the Number of Scholars from Domestic Institutions Included

Clarivate announced the Highly Cited Researchers 2023 on November 15, 2023. Professor Chung-Li Dong from our Physics Department and his former student, Physics Department alumnus Yu-Cheng Huang, were among the 18 scholars listed in Taiwan. In terms of the number of scholars selected, our university ranked second, following only National Taiwan University with 6 scholars, and tied with National Cheng Kung University and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology.

Board of Trustees Extend New Year’s Greetings in Advance and Confirmed Salary Increase for 2024
The board of trustees approved the "Tamkang University's Adjustment Plan of Coordinating with the Salary Adjustment for Military, Public, and Teaching Personnel in 2024" on the afternoon of November 23. The implementation is scheduled to commence from January 2024.

In June, the Executive Yuan announced that the salaries of military, public, and teaching personnel would be increased by 4% in 2024. Academic and research allowances for faculty at public universities and researchers at the Academia Sinica will see a 15% increase. On the afternoon of November 23, the Board of Trustees of the university approved the "TKU Adjustment Plan for Coordinating with the Salary Adjustment for Military, Public, and Teaching Personnel in 2024." The plan will be implemented starting from January 2024.
