BUSINESS MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION WINS AWARD FOR EXCELLENT SELF-GOVERNANCE

The Business Management Association of TKU, recommended by the school authorities to participate in the nationwide evaluation of college student associations and clubs, has been awarded the top honor by the Ministry of Education for excellent self-governance. Only two associations receive this honor, the other being the Information Management Association of Chung Yuan Christian University.

WATER AND ELECTRICITY METERS SHOW SIGNS OF ECONOMY

According to the statistics of the Center for Environmental Protection, Safety and Health (CEPSH), the use of electricity in the buildings at TKU this year has shown signs of decrease compared with the same months last year, while, except the slight increase in March, the use of water in other months has met the target.

Alumnus Wu Mao-kung Elected into American Science Academy

Tku’s alumnus (Department of Physics) Wu Mao-kung, owing to his distinguished achievement in the field of high-temperature superconductor science, was recently elected the non-native member of American Science Academy (ASA). There are four members of ASA currently working in Taiwan, but Wu is the only one who won the honor with ROC’s nationality.

Department of Educational Technology to Establish Digital Classrooms Next Year

“Modern computer technology develops at an incredibly high speed, which makes digital learning more and more important,” President Chang said in his speech in Department of Educational Technology’s roundtable discussion “The Development of Educational Technology in the Age of Digital Learning.” President Chang also announced that Tamkang would establish digital classrooms next year, a new trend with boundless potentials.

CHANG SHIH-T’ANG AND KE KUAN-YU WON TWO PRIZES IN GOLDEN VOICE SINGING CONTEST

The 18th Golden Voice Singing Contest announced the winners on May 1, 2004. Chang Shih-t’ang won the first prize and the prize for the best lyric writer for his “Can’t Be Found.” Ke Kuan-yu won the second prize and the best music arrangement for his “Shadow.” The former winner of the first prize, Chang Chieh, was invited to perform at the last show of this ceremony.

MORE THAN 100 COMPANIES HELD A RECRUITING EVENT ON TKU CAMPUS

The expanded recruiting event was held on last Tuesday (May 4), at Student Activity Center and the University Commons (Scroll Plaza). TKU graduates-to-be were enthusiastically presenting their resumes. The most popular job target was Shin Kong Financial Holding Co., which attracted 740 resumes. The second favorite choices were Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. and Eastern Broadcasting Co., with 460 resumes respectively. Asus Computer Co. got 250 and Yuanta Core Pacific Securities Co. got 184. These companies also confirmed their beliefs in TKU graduates’ abilities.

DEPT. OF INFORMATION MANAGEMENT HELD CONTEST OF SINGING DEPARTMENT SONG

Dept. of Information Management held the fifth contest of singing department song at Carrie Chang Music Hall at 19:00 last Tuesday and gave away 42,000 N.T prize in total. Senior Class C won the first prize 10,000 N.T., and the contest gave these students an unforgettable memory in their last year of university.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE WEEK INVITES YOU TO THE ENCHANTING WORLD OF LANGUAGES

From 5/10 (Monday) to 5/14 (Friday), College of Foreign Languages and Literature will held Foreign Language Week, co-sponsored by the Departments of French, English, German, Japanese, Spanish and Russian. THE 17TH CAMPUS MARATHON STARTED IN THE RAIN

The 17th Campus Marathon ended last Thursday on the Tamsui Campus of TKU. There were over sixty members of TKU participated in this race. Wu Chung-ke, a student in the Department of Statistics, won the Business Management Section Male Individual Championship. A senior in the Department of Banking and Finance, Hung Tang-chaio has defeated other runners and won the Female Individual Championship. As for the Team Champion, the Mountain Climbing Club out-ran other teams with their astonishing endurance. Lin Ching-neng, a senior in the Department of Economics and Huang Fun-yu, a senior in the Department of Insurance won the Lovers Championship.
