FACUTY MEMBERS OF LATIN AMERICAN STUDIES VISIT USA

Chen Yea-hong, a member of TKU’s Board of Trustees, will lead five faculty members of the Graduate Institute of Latin American Studies to attend the XXV International Congress of the Latin American Studies Association (LASA 2004) that is held between October 7 and 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Chen Yea-hong will chair a panel discussion specifically on Taiwan and Latin America. This panel is sponsored and organized by TKU, in which all of TKU members will present papers except one who will chair a discussion session.

The papers that will be discussed at the panel are as follows (N.B. all titles are a approximate translation from their original Spanish source): “Research on Taiwan and Latin America” by Juan Huang Hui, “The diplomatic relationships between Taiwan and Latin American” by Francisco Luis Perez Exposito, “A Comparison of the Educational Policies between Taiwan and Latin America” by Susan N. Vittadini Andres and “The Comparative Studies on the Nationalism of the indigenous people in Taiwan and Latin America” by Chen Hsiao-chuan. Part-time Assistant Professor of TKU, Antonio Hsiang, will be a discussant on the panel.
