IMMIGRATION POLICY TO CENTRAL AND SOUTH AMERICAN WILL BE EXAMINED

Due to the historical close ties most Latin American countries sustain with Taiwan, numerous questions regarding immigration and aids rendered to them are begging for answers. In response to that, a symposium on the relationship between Taiwan and Latin America 2004 will be opened at 1:30 p.m. this Friday, November 26 in Taipei Campus. The topic of this occasion is the “Dissection of the Policy of Immigration from Taiwan to Central and South America”.

The organizer is Professor Juan Hung Hui from the Graduate Institute of Latin America Studies and Tai Wan-chin, the Dean of the College of International Studies will deliver the keynote speech. Several eminent scholars will the discussants holding dialogues with delegates from Latin America. They include Wang Yun-chang, an former ambassadors to Portugal, Argentina, Peru, and El Quartos, Hsieh Ai-ling, the director of the Department of Household Registration Affairs in the Ministry of the Interior, Wang Bo-po, the head of the Third Division of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission and Yang Hsin-hon, the consultant on human rights issues to the Office of the President.
