Due to the cold fronts in the past few days, celebrating New Year Eve was destined to be a ‘cold’ affair. Or was it? Not if you have some of the delicious Beaujolais from the “Treasure Bottle Room” in hand.
This was exactly what happened at the wine-tasting occasion organized by the Center for the History of Liquor affiliated with the History Department at the “Treasure Bottle Room” in the Business Management Building at 4 p.m. on Dec. 31. Apart from Beaujolais, some Hors d’oeuvres were prepared to accompany the wine—a heavenly combination that warmed up the guests instantly in the wintry weather we are experiencing right now.
The host of the event, Ho Young-cheng of the History Department saw no better way of celebrating the New Year’s Eve in such a grand fashion than with 36 different types of wine for people to taste from. The sight of a crowded room filled with faulty, staff and students was a proof of that. Professor Chin Yi-nan of the Physics Department even came with his own glass—a high-stem wine glass—which is ideal for Beaujolais, since it prevents our hands from affecting the temperature of the wine. Most students, even though they are not wine connoisseurs like Professor Chin is, thoroughly enjoyed the wine and were glad to attend this special event. (~Ying-hsueh Hu)
