ELECTION OF STUDENT COUNCIL TAKES PLACE NEXT WEEK

The 12th election of Student Council will be held on Dec. 16th and 17th. Candidates’ registration has started and ends at 2:30 p.m. this Thursday. They should go to Room X107, Five Tiger Hill Council Office to collect registration forms.

Guo Yi-chen, a council member as well as the Vice Speaker for the Council, who is a junior at the Department of Educational Technology, will act as the Chief Executive of the Election Committee. He urges students to stand for election and speak up as the Council needs people who can do that to fight for everyone’s interest. Students need not feel passive and powerless, he emphasized. As council members act as a bridge between students and the university, electing them is a way of demonstrating students’ power as part of the decision-making mechanism. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that all students should participate in being candidates themselves or electing the best candidates. Any questions regarding the election, should contact Ko Yi-chen on 0916234261. There are 42 council members representing all colleges of TKU to be elected. They are 7 members for College of Business; 8 for the College of Management; 9 for the College of Engineering; 4 for the College of Science; 6 for the College of Foreign Languages and Literature; 1 for the College of Education; 5 for the College of Liberal Arts; 1 for the College of Technology and 1 for the College of International Studies. Candidates are required to fill out a form of personal information, a mission statement, a copy of student’s ID, five 2x2 passport photographs and an NT$ 10 deposit.
