MOE awarded TKU’s Office of Student Affairs with “First Class” for its excellent and versatile web page design in the Competition of Web Station Constructions for University Student Affairs. It even surpassed some national universities such as Chiao Tung, Cheng Kung, Chung Cheng, Chung Hsing and Central, winning NT$ 100,000 prize money.

This competition was participated mainly by all student affairs offices from various higher-education institutions. They were divided into two categories: universities and technical colleges whose up and running web pages were evaluated by a committee of experts. These committee members considered the web page design from two perspectives: The actual operation involved in students’ affairs and professionalism of design and technology. The committee found TKU’s web page was rich with information, versatile on-line services, and thematically well interrelated. The web page provides links to various interest groups, notice boards for faculty/students interaction, electronic telephone directory, housing rental market, electronic news, tips for running one’s own web station, and information on teacher/student counseling.

A total of 16 universities have won awards in the competition. The awards were divided into Excellent, First Class, Second Class, and Good Work. Universities of Yi-shou and Feng Chia were awarded Excellent, Tamkang, Chen Chi, Ming Chuan and Providence were awarded the First Class, whereas Universities of Central, Chinese Culture, Chiao Tung, Cheng Kung and Kaohsiung Normal received Second Class. Chung Cheng, Pingtung Normal, Chung Hsing, Yuan Ze as well as Taiwan Normal received Good Work.
