President Flora C. I. Chang, together with Vice President for Academic Affairs, Feng Chao-kang, Director of International Exchanges and International Education, Chen Hwei-mei, and Chair of Department of Japanese, Peng Chuen-yang, will be visiting two of Tamkang University’s sister institutions in Japan—Nagasaki University and Nagasaki University of Foreign Studies—from Tuesday to Thursday (March 22 to 24). President Chang will have talks with administrators of both universities and sign a memorandum of student exchange agreement with Nagasaki University.
Both Nagasaki University of Foreign Studies and Nagasaki University have had academic exchange relationships with Tamkang for many years and became Tamkang’s sister institutions in May and November 2004 respectively. Nagasaki University became Tamkang’s 78th sister institution during last year’s 54th TKU anniversary celebrations when the President of Nagasaki University, Hiroshi Saito, came to Tamkang to sign the agreement of academic exchange with President Chang.
The President of Nagasaki University of Foreign Studies, Akimasa Mitsuta, and Director of International Exchange, Akihito Ishikawa, have also visited Tamkang University. During her visit, President Chang will discuss student exchange plans with the administrators of both Japanese universities; the first exchange students from both universities can be expected in as early as September this year.
