Last Wednesday (March 16) at University Commons, an audition was held to recruit actors for TKU’s first enrollment video “When the Impeccable Man Falls in Love with Long-haired Piao-Piao.” After intensive competition, the leading actress “Piao-Piao,” about whom students are most curious, was not found yet. As for the leading actor “the Impeccable Man,” four candidates, including Kuo Wei-hsian (freshman from Dept. of Civil Engineering), Wu Wei-chin (junior from Dept. of Computer Science and Information Engineering), and Hong Yuan (sophomore form Dept. of International Trade ) and Yu Chia-wei (junior from Dept. of Spanish), had a neck-to-neck tie. The organizer is going to hold another audition for the final decision.
Twenty-two students who enjoy performing were attracted to the audition. Some of them looked like celebrities---Jay Chow (Hong Yuan, sophomore form Dept. of International Trade ), Kuo Pin-chiao (Kuo Wei-hsian, freshman from Dept. of Civil Engineering), Chen Kuan-hsi (Chen Chun-chia, freshman from Dept. of Electrical Engineering), and Sun Yien-tzi (Wu Ya-chin, freshman from Dept. of Chinese)---and turned the audition into a “Super Star Face” contest. Contestants played all kinds of best tricks to catch the attention from audience and judges, who could not refrain from feeling fascinated. To win judges’ favors, a female student dramatized the monkey’s various expressions. Until the end, the leading actress “Piao-Piao” was yet to be chosen. Chair of Dept. of Mass Communication Lee Mei-hua, one of the judges, indicated that Piao-Piao must be carefully chosen to catch all junior high students’ attention.
Hong Yuan (sophomore form Dept. of International Trade ) sang the song “Realizing Myself” that he composed and proceeded to the next round to go for “the Impeccable Man.” He said that he joined the activity to preserve some valuable memories for his college life; taking on the leading role may not be his sole purpose, and winning the supporting role would be a great fun to him. With a smiling face, Kuo Wei-hsian said that he felt very lucky and happy to be favored by the judges and was grateful for his friends’ enthusiastic support.
The audition also recruited other roles: “Beauty of Alluring Gaze” (Fang Pin and Huang Yu-ru, sophomores from Dept. of Economics; Chen Wan-ting, senior from Dept. of Statistics), “Kimono Beauty” (Lu Pei-chun, senior from Dept. of Information and Library Science; Chang Yi-ping, junior from Dept. of Mass Communication; Chou Chia-heh, junior from Dept. of Educational Technology; Yeh Yi-ling, senior from Dept. of Mass Communication), “Beauty of Swimming Suit” (Lin Chun-yu, senior from Dept. of English), “Beauty of Technology” (Hong Hua-suei, Graduate Institute of Mass Communication), “Secret Role” (Huang Wu-sheng, senior from Dept. of Transportation Management ), “Taekwondo Leg-splitting Chubby Boy” (Cheng Yu-cheh, senior from Dept. of Information and Library Science), “Classical Band of Twelve Gentlemen” (Chien Chi-chun and Hsing Jie, Dept. of Computer Science and Information Engineering; Kuo Yi-cheng and Hsieh Chung-ying, Dept. of Educational Technology ). As emphasized by the executive producer Ro Ling-hsin (alumni of Dept. of Mass Communication), those who were not chosen need not feel frustrated; if more roles are needed, they would be informed. She also revealed that the video will include the performance of A-Liang, TKU’s celebrity alumni, and will be finished around the end of May. TKU’s teachers and students will look forward to it!
