PRESIDENT CHANG VISITS SISTER SCHOOLS IN EUROPE

President C. I. Chang, accompanied by Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Feng Chao-kang and TKU delegation, started a visiting tour to TKU sister schools in Europe yesterday (from April 24 to May 4). They expect to visit three colleges at Oxford University, England, University of Cologne, University Bonn, Germany, and Universite Lyon 3, France. They will also see TKU exchange students at these sister schools.

The delegation includes Dr. Lily H.M. Chen, Director of Office of International Exchanges & International Education, Dr. Chong-ko Tzou, Chair of Graduate Institute of European Studies. Dr. Shu-ling Tsai, Chair of Department of French will join the delegation in Paris on April 30. President Chang has been to Europe many times since she served as Vice President. The sister schools welcome their old acquaintances with congratulation.

The first stop at Mansfield College, Oxford U, will be hosted by Dean Diana Walford. On April 26, the delegation will visit Hertford College and her Dean, Sir Walter. In the afternoon, they will visit Margaret College and join in a forum to familiarize with the administration of the three Oxford colleges, which will be a valuable reference for the execution of the British styled education in TKU’s Lanyang campus.

On Wednesday, they will fly to Germany, and then visit Dr. rer. Nat. Axel Freimuth, President of University of Cologne on Thursday, and visit Dr. Matthias Winiger, President of University Bonn on Friday. The last stop is to visit Dr.Guy Lavorel, President of Universite Lyon 3. There are TKU exchange students at the three distinguished European universities. In addition to the official activities with sister schools, TKU President Chang will meet these students to encourage them. (~ Chi-szu Chen )
