SEVERAL CONSTRUCTIONS CONTINUE DURING SUMMER VACATION

Several major constructions will continue this summer vacation, including Lanyang Campus, Gymnasium at Tamsui Campus, spatial readjustments of Ching-sheng Building, Building of Engineering, Building of Communication and Building of Liberal Arts, and the light stage at the square in front of Building of Foreign Languages and Literatures. The tracks of Stadium will be renovated for the sake of students’ safety.

The structure of the teaching quarters at Lanyang Campus has been completed. Structural construction is being carried on the sixth floor of the dormitory quarters in accordance with the recruitment in the new semester; the use certificate will be acquired before the beginning of new semester, and the logo of green architecture will be applied for then. Various constructions will be hurried at Shao-mo Memorial Natatorium Complex, adding several courts and offices of students’ associations, which are all planned to be completed next summer vacation. Offices of departments and teachers of Foreign Languages and Literatures, Vice President for Academic Affairs and International Exchanges and International Education will be moved into new Building of Foreign Languages and Literatures in mid July. Outside the building, the original old tree is preserved, a new Japanese-styled garden is created in the space around girls’ dormitory, and a “light stage” is added to the Spring Plaza between the Library and Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center, sending out colorful LED light alternating with the variable movement of water, a leisure space for teachers and students.

Departments of College of Engineering will have some spatial readjustments, separating laboratories and offices and bringing more convenience and safety to teachers and students. Besides, two new rooms L415 and L416 will be used as the Office of new Center for Tibetan Studies. The computer classrooms of Dept. of Mass Communication and Dept. of Information and Communication will be expanded, and the number of computers increased. College of Liberal Arts will open Center of Knowledge Communication and Cultural Creation, filling in the vacancy left by the office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. (~ Hui-chuan Wang )
