CELEBRATING TKU’S 55TH ANNIVERSARY:

November 5, 2005 witnesses the 55th anniversary of TKU. President C. I. Chang hosted the anniversary ceremony on 9 am at the sport court of Tamsui campus. In addition to TKU staffs, teachers, and students, alumni from around the world, presidents and representatives of our sister schools, distinguished scholars of future studies were invited to join the ceremony. The whole celebration ceremony was broadcast via TKU’s radio station, Voice of Tamkang.

The celebration events of the first day (November 5) began with introducing the honorable guests, who were welcomed by Lion Dance by overseas Chinese students association. Then the “Tamkang Elites—Golden Eagle Awards” were given to six yearly winners. After that, “Light of Tamkang” acknowledgements awards were presented to 31 donators, including Chen Wen-juei, President of Cheng Chien Enterprise, and 13 donation-initiators, including TKU founder Dr. Clement Chang.

Those who donated more than 300,000 NT were acknowledged by both Ministry of Education and Tamkang University with plates of thanks. The honor was shared by the following: Cheng Chien Enterprise, Taipei Tamkang Alumni Association, Dr. Clement Chang, Mr. Wang Chu-ching, Unity Opto Technology, Tamkang Accounting Education Foundation, Western Books, Mr. Chen Ju-hsiung, Mr. Lin Chiang-shui, Li Ting Construction, Mr. Chen Shang-lung, Mr. Hou Teng-chien, Mr. Cheng Po-kuen, Mr. Chao Chia-hsiang, Mr. Hong Chia-tsung, Tai Ling Technology, Mr. Lee Chang-ling, New Moon Books, HP Technology, HuaTai Culture, Tunghua Books, ChungJei Books, Powick Shipping, Sunsea Construction,Tai Yu International, Mr. Chang Cheng-jong, Bookmen Books, Kuang-hsing and Yi-chun Accountant Office, Mr. Chang Huan-chung, Mr. Li Chih-hung, and Mr. Hsu Hang-chien.

In addition, the Principal of Taipei Jongan Elementary School and an alumnus of TKU, Mr. Hsu Ming-chin, who just won the second the “MOE Distinguished Principal Leadership Awards” from, was invited to receive “Light of Tamkang” from his alma mater.

After the opening ceremony, a series of events took place respectively. International conference on “Global Soul, Global Mind and Action: Futuring from Survival to Thrival,” and contract-signing ceremony between TKU and her sister schools were held at Chueh Sheng International Conference Hall. Funfair and charity sales took place both at the poster path and by the library. Sport events were held at the sport court. Chinese calligraphy and e-pen signing were exhibited in front of the Building of Foreign Languages and Literatures. Banquet for the honorable guests was held at Chueh-shuan Classical Chinese Garden. On top of these events, visitors can enjoy music in Carrie Chang Music Hall, and appreciate various species of orchid at the exhibition hall of Business Building.

On Sunday, more events were held at Lanyang campus, including “The Third Symposium on Educational Administration” at Lanyang International Conference Hall, tour visit to the Plants Garden, and forum with honorable guests, TKU president, and local representatives of Yilan county government.
