In the coming summer vacation, 30 student clubs and associations will hold summer camps. Among them, Speech Club, World Youth Leader Club, Far Lun Da Far Club, Dept. of Japanese, Dept. of Information Management, and Dept. of Mathematics will hold the summer camps for high school students.
Speech Club will hold the first “Palace-Styled Cup High School Debate Contest” and invites high school students all over the country to experience Tamkang campus and share experiences in debate. The club leader, Chang Chih-ern, sophomore of Department of Industrial Economics, indicates that so far there are ten teams enlisted in the contest, and it shows the growing interest in this camp, for the first debate contest hold by Soochow University had only six teams. She adds that “our aim is to make ‘Palace-Styled Cup High School Debate Contest’ compatible with the similar debate contest hold by Taiwan University and Soochow University.”
The 8th “The 3Q High Shool Youth Leader Camp” is organized by The Youth Leader Club of Tamkang University. In the past, such a camp WAS often hosted by Taiwan University and Cheng Chih University. For the first time, it is hosted in TKU. The 3Q refers to IQ, EQ, and PQ. The organizer of this camp, Chen Yi-cheng, freshman of Dept. of Decision Making, indicates that “the purpose of this camp is to help high school students, who are crammed with endless exams, to find their interests and to foster proper values.” Among the activities, “Lighting the Lamp of Heart” is aimed to form self-confidence through helping each other.
The summer camp of Far Lun Da Far is also hosted by TKU for the first time. The activities include meditation practice, speech, group field game, outdoor concert, and video filming of the founder. Huang Wei-tang, sophomore of Dept. of Physics, indicates that “the summer camp is to inform high school student about ways to manage their pressure through the practice of Far Lun Da Far.”
The names of the 30 camps and their hosts are as follows: High School Debate Camp (Speech Club), 3Q High School Youth Leader Camp (The Youth Leader Club), Far Lun Da Far High School Summer Camp (Far Lun Da Far Club), High School Mathematics Summer Camp (Dept. of Mathematics), High School Information Management Camp (Dept. of Information Management), High School Japanese Summer Camp (Dept. of Japanese), Finance and Investment Camp (Association of Business Management), Civil Engineering Camp (Chinese Civil Engineering Association), Cultural Services Camp (Chinese Music Club), Town Services (Chuang-hua Alumni Association), Earth Environmental Work Group, Skating Camp (Skating Club), Astrology Club, Sing Language Club, Chinese Fist Fighting Club, Chinese Martial Arts Club, Chen Tai Chi Chuan Club, International Standard Dance Club, Dance Club, Chorus Club, Guitar Club, Female Basketball OB Game (Dept. of Chinese), Invitation Basketball Game (Night Division of Dept. of Chinese), and Badminton Camp (Dept. of Information).
