57TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER

The 57th founding anniversary of TKU will be celebrated on November 3 at the Shao-mo Memorial Gymnasium, during which the Golden Eagle Awards will be held along with other award ceremonies that pay tribute to generous donators. There are four winners receiving this year’s Golden Eagle Awards, while 32 alumni will be given certificates of thanks and trophies for their donation as well as fund-raising activities.

The Golden Eagle Awards are an honor given to outstanding alumni who have made important contribution to their individual field. The four winners of this year are Messrs Mo Lo Fu (English Department), Liao Ming-shang (Department of Business Administration), Chung Hsin-yung (Department of Chemistry) and Lin Bao-shui (Department of Computer Science). Apart from these awardees, many alumni from different parts of the world will return for this ceremony and other celebrations.

These celebrations include an Orchids Exhibition that opens on November 2, and a tea reception party as well as the 5th Egg Roll Festival on November 3. At the Egg Roll Festival, a fun fair will be the highlight of the event. Like in the past four years, you’ll find exotic food stands, auctions, games, and above all an activity that was added two years ago, the bungee jumping. A crane will be set up for the daredevils.

A track and field meet is also scheduled for November 8. This is usually the best occasion for all staff and faculty members to release their aggressive and competitive energy in a fair and square way. Many events, such as relays, tug-o-war, and sack race will help achieve that. Competitiveness aside, these sports and games also require cooperation and stamina, which are equally important for success. Through sports on this day, apparently, the spirit of TKU lives on.
