WIND TUNNEL WEEK DEMONSTRATES VITAL SIMULATIONS

TKU Wind Engineering Research Center held a “Wind Tunnel Week” at the foyer of Main Engineering Building from 28 to 30/Nov, during which simulations of velocity of wind on high risers were demonstrated. The model of building that was being used for the test is the Twin Star

Building near the Taipei Main Station and the structures in its 450 m. radius.

Cheng Chii-ming, the Director of the center, explained that engineers usually fix numerous sensors on the model building which is in turn placed in the wind tunnel to record vital numbers regarding wind direction and velocity. These numbers are crucial references for engineers and architects when designing real buildings or structures. ( ~Ying-hsueh Hu )
