TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SECTION HOLDS ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE CREATIVE TEACHING

Tamkang’s Teacher Professional Development Section proposed a series of projects to help TKU teachers to become better educators, including “Teachers’ Professional Development Project,” “Teachers Apprenticeship Project,” “Creative Teaching,” “Media Instructional Designer Project,” “Teaching Assistant Self-Improvement Project.” “We hope that teachers and TAs can participate these projects to enhance their professional skills,” said Chang Chiung-sui, Section Chief of the Teacher Professional Development Section.

The “Teachers’ Professional Development Project” invites teachers from different departments to share their teaching experiences. “Teachers Apprenticeship Project” aims to promote apprenticeship between experienced teachers and new teachers. Workshops and one-on-one interviews will be hold to allow veteran teachers to share their teaching experiences with newcomers. “Creative Teaching” allows teacher to think of innovative and creative teaching methods to help student learn more easily. Those who wish to apply for the “Apprentice project” and “Creative teaching” can log on line for application. The deadline for the application is due on October 24.

Meanwhile, the “Media Instructional Designer Project” which was first launched last year is also available this year. Those who wish to attend the project can log on the following website http://tpd.tku.edu.tw to download the required form. “Teaching Assistant Self-Improvement Project” encourages TAs to join all kinds of courses to help them becoming better assistants to professors. The TA who has taken all the available courses will be given certificate to prove that he or she is ready to become a qualified TA. ( ~Yen Yun-kai )
