TKU’S OFFICE OF AACSB IS ESTABLISHED TO EARN AACSB ACCREDITATION

TKU’s Office of Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) was established on Jan. 1, and it will begin to apply AACSB international accreditation. The Executive Director of the Office Dr. Lin Ku-jun, of Dept. of Accounting, expresses that if TKU earns the accreditation, the credits of College of Business and College of Management of TKU will be accepted by the world, which can not only attract foreign students to TKU, but also increase internationalization of the school.

AACSB is a well-known organization that accredits collegiate business schools and international academic accounting programs worldwide. It provides many research reports on business management, accounting, and the methods of teaching them, so that all its members can catch up the latest academic information right away. It has more than one thousand members, among which 570 educational institutions such as Harvard and Yale had got the accreditation by the end of September 2009. In Taiwan, only four schools have earned the accreditation. They are National Chiao Tung University, National Sun Yat-Sen University, Fu Jen Catholic University, and National Chengchi University.

Dr. Lin indicated that earning AACSB accreditation means that the academic quality is approved internationally, so the first thing he wants to do as the Executive Director of the Office is to integrate the resources of all the departments in College of Business and College of Management and to get AACSB accreditation. The Office will gather information, learn the experience from the schools that got the accreditation, consult domestic and foreign experts and scholars, and follow the application process to win the accreditation. “Both College of Business and College of Management have gone through many evaluations; hence we have good foundation and abundant experience. I am fully confident in earning the accreditation in the near future,” said Dr. Lin. ( ~Shu-chun Yen )
