Dr. Kuo Chiu-ching, Chair of the Graduate Institute of European Studies, leading a group of four professors of his institute, visited China on April 6 to attend a conference, hosted by the Institute of European Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, “Current Status And The Future of the European Union.” Some of the topics in the conference include the case studies on the soft power of France and Netherlands.
According to Dr. Kuo, the participants include many experts in the area, such as Song Xiaomin, Editor-in-chef of the famous Chinese periodical European Studies. Song tape-recorded the whole conference in order to report it in the latest publication of her journal. Dr. Kuo said the Institute of European Studies is the most renowned European Union study organizations in China. Such conference will be held every two years by both his institute and the Chinese counterpart in rotation, which can promote exchanges of both sides, Kuo added. ( ~Yeh Yun-kai )
