On Oct. 29, at the 7th Cross-Strait Book Fair held in Xiamen, China, Tamkang received a very unique gift: 2600 books written using simplified Chinese characters. The gift, with a total estimated value of around NT$800,000, consisted of numerous collector’s edition series, encyclopedias, and Chinese classics. The Dean of the TKU Memorial Library, Prof. Hong-Chu Huang, noted that “this is the first time the Cross-Strait Book Fair has given a Taiwanese institution such a large quality of top-quality books”.
