To help freshmen's parents better understand the educational ideals and policies of Tamkang University, parent seminars will take place simultaneously at the time of freshmen orientation to facilitate their understanding of TKU. All the parents are invited to join freshmen to acquaint themselves with the campuses of TKU.

Two seminars for such purposes will be held: the first one for parents of Liberal Arts, Business, Management and Technology Colleges freshmen will take place on September 8; the second one for parents of Sciences, Engineering, Foreign Languages and Education Colleges freshmen will be held on Sept. 9. A shuttle bus will pick parents up at Tamsui MRT Station at 9:20 a.m. and take them back to Tamsui MRT Station right after the end of the seminar.

Dr. Horng-jinh Chang, president of TKU, will host the seminars with a special feature of multi-media introduction. A luncheon at Sea-view Hall will be provided and a tour of campus is arranged for the afternoon session.

Beginning from the middle of August, freshmen and parents seminars in every county and city of Taiwan will be hosted by TKU's Alumni Services and Resources Development Office and ROC Tamkang Alumni Association in cooperation with TKU's high school alumni associations. Since 1996, such seminars have been held by TKU's alumni office. More than 2,000 freshmen and parents participated in these seminars last year, an indication that these activities are well acknowledged and appreciated by both freshmen and parents. As director of TKU Alumni Association Lee Shieng-jiung pointed out, alumni associations of the 25 counties and cities all over the island will continue to invite TKU's faculty to hold seminars to introduce facilities, equipment, educational ideals and policies and information about eating, living, transportation and recreation of TKU to parents and freshmen.
