24 STUDENTS FROM TKU SISTER UNIVERSITIES IN JAPAN, KOREA TASTE CHINESE DISHES BEFORE LEARNING CHINES

A class opening ceremony for 24 students from Tamang University’s (TKU) sister universities in Japan and Korea on the International Exchange Student Program was held at Ching-sheng International Conference Hall, Tamsui campus on Feb. 20, 2003.

Students taking part in the program came from Reitaku University (RU), ChuoGakuin University of Japan and Kyungnam University of Korea.

Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Feng Chao-kang presided over the ceremony. Feng exhorted students to treasure the good time and to make exchanges with TKU students during their stay at TKU. Feng honored them at a lunch at the Sea Watch Restaurant, 10F, Ching-sheng Memorial Building.

“My name is Shunsuke Kumao and is in Taiwan for the first time. I would like to try delicious Taiwanese food and learn Chinese,” so introduced himself Tomonori Nakaoka ate preserved meat rice and said that was wonderful. Takayo Yamaguchi said that she didn’t want to gain any weight but she couldn’t resist it because Taiwanese dishes were so delicious.

Miyuki Kumada said that she wanted to join the basketball club so as to acquaint with more TKU students while Ayana Arikawa hoping to join the volleyball club. Junko Kojima said that she wanted to join the tennis club and hoped that would leave a good memory to recall. Later on she’ll turn 20 in Taiwan. Akitoshi Yagai said that she wanted to visit scenic spots in Taiwan and learn Chinese language well. Yuichi Yamashita of ChuoGakuin University said that she was interested in Chinese history.

They have already put aside the idea of “don’t eat too much” when they taste delicious Chinese dishes at luncheon party.
