A 21-member delegation of Department of Information and Library Science (DILS), Tamkang University (TKU) is scheduled to leave Taipei on Jan. 16 for a 10-day academic exchanges with TKU sister universities in the Shanghai and Nanjing areas.
Chiu Jeong-jeou, Chair of DILS, said that the academic visits would be more practical than attending seminars. The visit will also promote substantial relationship between TKU and its sister universities on Mainland China.
Other members of the delegation include Profs. Huang Shih-hsion, Tsai Ming-yeh and Pan Chin, Associate Prof. Huang Hong-chu, currently Director of Chueh Sheng Memorial Library, and others.
Suggested by Prof. Tsai Ming-yeh, Chiu Jeong-jeou, Chair of DILS decided to visit the coastal area along Mainland China where information is available and better developed for the first overseas exchange visit. Members of the delegation will visit Nanjing University, Nanjing Library, Huatung Normal University in Shanghai, and Shanghai Library.
For Mainland China, the department of information in Taiwan or the world means library science. Members of the delegation will make course emulation with Department of Information Management, Nanjing University, and Department of Information and Library Science, Huatung Normal University during their stay in Mainland China. That is to say, the two sides will alternatively design the course and have the other side conducted the course so as to demonstrate the research achievements.
Chiu said that in order to coordinate with the university on Mainland China, the course arrangement made by TKU’s Department of Information and Library Science will be confined to the course for the information.
