The Center for Futures Studies will sponsor a network dialogue between Tamkang University and Oxford University on Dec. 11 to exchange views on futures education.

Dr. John Sayer, Department of Education, Oxford University (OU) will be invited to exchange views on futures education at the network dialog to be held at I501 Distance Education Classroom, Wednesday (December 11, 2002). All those interesting in futures education will be welcome to participate in the network dialog at the time between 6:00 pm--8:00 pm.

Prof. Reinhard Dubel, Chair, Department of German and concurrently Director, Center for the Study of Globalization and Cultural Difference, TKU, will preside over the discussion with Dr. John Sayer at the Distance Terminal in London while Prof. Chen Kuo-hua, Chair, Graduate Institute of Futures Studies, TKU, will officiate at the dialog at the terminal in TKU. Visiting Prof. Sohil Inayatullah will also take part in the dialog.

Prof. Chen said that Dr. Sayer’s specialties are the educational policy, teachers’ cultivation and training courses, and leadership and administration of school. Dr. Sayer also dedicated himself to the study of teachers’ cultivation and training and the health education in Mid-Eastern region, Chen said. At present, he dedicated himself to the study of the educational course design for younger generation of foreign laborers and brides in Europe.

These main themes have inseparable relations with the educational reform being implemented in Taiwan. The dialog will also have significant affinity with the integration between the international viewpoints and the study of the theme, Chen said.
