CARRIE CHANG MUSIC HALL FORMALLY INAUGURATED

Former Republic of China Vice President Li Yuan-tzu, Tamkang University (TKU) Founder Dr. Clement C.P. Chang, Chairperson, Board of Trustees Carrie W.T. Chiang Chang, President Chang Horng-jinh, Vice Presidents Flora C.I. Chang and Feng Chao-kang jointly cut the ribbon to formally inaugurate the recently-complete reconstruction of Carrie Chang Music Hall on Nov. 9, 2002 with many well-wishers witnessing.

A concert marking the opening of the music hall was held following the inaugural ceremony. Prof. Lee Pei-yee and Tamkang Chorus have remained their historical piano sound and their voices at the newly inaugurated Carrie Chang Music Hall.

A lion dance exhibition by Overseas Chinese Student Lion Troupe sparked the celebration activities before the inaugural ceremony.

When entering the hall, a striking black shining Stanway Grand Piano B211PE greeted you. The high standard indoor sounding design and a floating stage as well as a state-of-the-art recording system will immediately sparkle your eyes.

Prof. Lee played three Chinese and Western songs, including “the embroidered purse” of Chinese song and works of Frederic Chopin. Lee said that she played two contrast style songs at the concert with the hope that the work of Chopin will bring us a “Tamkang culture”.

Tamkang Chorus sang six folksongs, including Yehlaihsiang and “Roaming to Tamsui”.
