【Reported by Yan-lin Chen Tamkang, Times】On November 16th in the Ching-sheng International Conference Hall, the “2013 Teaching German as a Foreign Language and Intercultural Academic Discussion-Writing German vs. Spoken German” took place. In attendance were Executive Director of German Office Taipei and Dean of the German Department of Soochow University, Dr. Jhy-Wey Shieh and Professor of Ruhr-Universitaet Bochum, Roland Harweg. Also in attendance were professors from Japan and Korea and about 80 university students. The theme of this year’s discussion pertained to the differences of speaking German vs. writing German.
The Director of the German Department, Ying-yen Chung, stated, “My wish is that in these discussions professors can share their teaching experience in regards of spoken and written German. It’s fantastic that professors from Germany, Japan and Korea can provide us with new methods of critical thinking in this mutually beneficial exchange. It is a special treat to share thoughts with Roland Harweg, who has really given us a lot of great knowledge to utilize and digest.”
