TKU-OXFORD DIALOGUE THROUGH VIDEO MEETING TO BE HELD ON OCT. 16

TKU and Oxford University, the Great Britain, will hold a dialogue through online network to be held on Oct. 16 (Wednesday).

Prof. Reinhard Dubel, Director, Center of the Study of Globalization and Cultural Differences, TKU and Chen Kuo-hua, Director, Graduate Institute of Futures Studies, TKU; will lead students of Graduate Institute of Futures Studies to hold a direct dialog with Prof. Mike Rooke of Ruskin College, Oxford University.

The main theme of the upcoming dialogue will be the “Future of Globalization and Welfare Countries”. English will be the only language to be used through the dialogue.

“Although Prof. Mike Rooke is a scholar specializing in economics, he has a unique view and study on the globalization,” Prof. Chen said, adding that this will be a significantly academic dialogue and exchange of opinions.

Prof. Dubel who is in charge of making contact with Oxford for this meeting through multimedia system, said that Prof. Peter Baker of Oxford University was deeply impressed with the Distance Education implemented by TKU when he visited TKU last time. Prof. Baker has appreciated very much for this academic interflow.

The Distance Education Program is what is so-called the fourth campus initiated by TKU. The upcoming dialog will undoubtedly provide the participants with a live scene as if we were living on Oxford campus, Prof. Chen said.

In addition to students of the Graduate Institute of Futures Studies, those who are not majosr in Futures Studies but are interested in the dialog will also be highly welcomed, Chen said.

The meeting will be held at I504 classroom.
