SEMINAR ON CHITOSAN TO BE HELD ON TAMSUI CAMPUS ON OCT. 18

The seminar on Chitosan jointly sponsored by Departments of Chemistry and of Chemical Engineering, TKU as well as Chunghua Chitin and Chitosan Federation will be held on Tamsui Campus, TKU on Oct. 18, 2002.

The main theme to be discussed at the two-day seminar will center on academic reports, the application of technology and the practice.

Prof. Hsieh Wen-fa, former Dean of the College of Science, TKU, will deliver a keynote speech at the opening ceremony to be held at Chungcheng Hall of Chung-ling Chemistry Building to kick off a two-day discussion in the morning of Oct. 18.

Twenty- four scholars and industrialists will give lectures on Chitin and Chitosan and their applications and preside over the panel discussions. They include Chen Hsin-chen, Vice President of National Taiwan Ocean University; Chang Fung-chih, Dean of the College of Science, National Chiao Tung University; Tseng Yao-ming, Dean of the College of Science and Engineering, Chao Yang University; Yu Tse-lung, Chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Yuan Tzu University; Wu Feng-chih, Chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering, the United University and Dr. Chen Chin-kun, Director of the Refining Research Institute of Chinese Petroleum Corporation.

Prof. Hsieh said that TKU would redouble their efforts to strengthen research and study of biotech as it is the most potential industry to be developed in this century.
