TKU Ling Yung Harmonica Club Won a Laureate Wreath in the Inter-Collegiate Harmonica Contest

In the “2002 National Dolphin Harmonica Contest” held in Yuan Ze University on May 18, a Laureate wreath was won by TKU Ling Yung Harmonica Club, defeating all the good harmonica players from Taiwan.

In order to win the contest, every member of the TKU Ling Yung Harmonica Club had exerted every effort they could in bringing out the very best of his/her potential. They worked hard day in and day out to achieve this goal, so to speak.

As we have learned, the panel of judges singled out TKU mainly because there is incomparable rapport between the conductor and team members, which they found the 1st runner-up, Chiao Ta, is seriously lacking.

The 2nd runner-up team is Chung Yuan University.

As Miss Huang Sz-ling, the conductor, mentioned, “Our performance on stage is better than any previous rehearsals we did before. We won, yes we did. But I still cannot believe it. You know why? We won because we have had this esprit de corps.”

The song they chose to play that helped them is entitled “Hungarian Dance No.20”. It has a rapid scale of crescendo and decrescendo, meaning it is by no means an easy number to play; yet they have mounted all the difficulties mainly because they enjoy this high sense of rapport between each member and that is the key to their tremendous success.
