The 2nd TKU Cyberspace Page Design Contest Will Begin in May

The 2nd Cyberspace Page Design Contest will begin from April 19 until the same day next month (May 19). During this one-month period, all TKU faculties, staff and students can log on the Internet to elect their preferred Page. For winners, many computer-related prizes are waiting for them. It is estimated that more than one hundred Pages from both administrative and teaching units, be they on the first or second level, will all participate in this contest.

The Information Processing Center will be in charge of the event. Strictly speaking, in terms of prizes, there are two main categories: 1) Critics’ Choice Award; 2) Voters’ Choice Award. For the first kind, professional opinions outside the TKU campus will be sought to determine the winners. The date will be set from May 20 to 28. For the second category, the winners will be elected throughout the campus as we have mentioned before, and it will be the people’s choice.

The main features of the cyberspace page will include: introduction of each department/institute; each administrative unit; characteristics of the curriculum; medium and long-range objectives; faculty/staff introduction; course arrangement; equipment resources, matriculation and student recruitment; employment tactics and other related matters. Each Page must make available a twin-page bi-lingual version: Chinese and English.

This meaningful activity was initiated two years ago. Last year, winners of the cyberspace page design were as follows: Insurance and Architecture departments, Office of Student Affairs and the Tamkang Times. Now it’s the second time; and, according to Ms. Lee Shu-hwa, Chief of Multi-media Section, it’s for upgrading some insipid page designs from the past that this contest was organized. We are hoping, she said, with our improved products, we may attract some would-be TKU freshmen while they are surfing among a swelter of beautiful and solid page designs. Besides, the newly-fangled English version will definitely promote the social intercourse between TKU and her sister schools abroad.
