An 18-member delegation led by Prof. Yuan Pao-hsin, Pres. of Hsing Wu College, came to visit Tamkang University at l0 A.M., November l, Thursday. Prof. Yuan expressed his joy visiting T.K.U. because, he said, just 3 months before, he had been a faculty member of the Chinese Department here; now he came back with his new friends, wishing he could learn something new from this visit upon the old soil.
Pres. Chang Horng-jinh addressed him, “our old friend”, and he said,, “Now that network communications are accessible to almost everybody, private schools can easily adopt a cooperative mode to exchange experiences such as inter-library loan, open enrolment program, etc. It is not just serving the thrifty purpose, but also beneficial to mutual parties. Take Tamkang, for instance, we are not selfish people and we are more than willing to share our academic experiences with those who came to seek help.”
Prof. Yuan had worked in many private institutions, he said, and Tamkang U. happens to be the one blessed with the best teaching/research potential. He is hoping, therefore, that Tamkang can provide more “in-service” training vacancies in some of her doctorate programs to facilitate their faculties to apply.
On this memorable occasion, he gave a ceramic gourd to Dr. Clement C.P. Chang, our Founder and Pres. Chang Horng-jinh. The gourd used to be a drinking utensil in ancient times; it is now serving as a token of his appreciation and indebtedness for someone who had done so much for him.
The l8-member delegation had visited many places on that day, including Educational Development Center, Chueh Sheng Memorial Library, Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center. etc.
