On September 19, 2025, Stanford University in the United States released the latest 2025 World’s Top 2% Scientists list. 24 Tamkang faculty members were listed in the Career-long (1960–2024) Impact Ranking, and 13 were listed in the Single-Year Impact for 2024 Ranking. After excluding overlaps, a total of 28 faculty members were recognized — all repeat honorees who continue to stand as pillars of the global academic community.
9 scholars were included in both lists, all of whom are long-standing figures in the rankings: Prof. I-Cheng Yeh (Civil Engineering), Distinguished Prof. Shu-Hsien Liao (Management Sciences), Prof. Yu-Hui Fang (Accounting), Distinguished Prof. Kun-Shan Wu (Business Administration), Prof. Li-Chiu Chang (Water Resources and Environmental Engineering), Prof. Chia-Chi Sun (International Business), Distinguished Prof. San-Lang Wang (Chemistry), Distinguished Research Chair Prof. Jong-Shenq Guo (Applied Mathematics and Data Science), and Visiting Research Fellow Inayatullah Sohail Tahir (Education and Futures Design). Notably, Prof. Fang entered the Career-long (1960-2024) Impact Ranking for the first time, having been listed annually since 2021—an impressive testament to her sustained academic excellence.
The listed scholars represent a broad range of academic disciplines. By department, the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering had the highest number of ranked scholars (5), followed by the Departments of Electrical Engineering and Physics (3 each). By discipline, Business and Management (8) and Engineering (7) were the most represented, followed by Physics (3 scholars). Other disciplines included Information and Communications Technology,  Mathematics and Statistics, Education, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biophysics, Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Chemistry, reflecting Tamkang University’s rich and diverse academic profile as a comprehensive university.
Since its first release in 2019, the World’s Top 2% Scientists list has become a globally recognized benchmark for evaluating research impact. The 2025 edition features over 230,000 top scientists worldwide, compiled using data from the Scopus abstract and citation database, with reference data collected as of August 1, 2025, spanning the period from 1960 to 2024. The ranking spans 5 broad fields—Applied Sciences, Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, Economics and Social Sciences, and Humanities and Arts—across 22 major disciplines and 174 subfields, underscoring its comprehensive and authoritative scope.
