With the release of the 2026–2027 university placement admission results, Tamkang University once again achieved full enrollment, welcoming 4,322 first-year students—the largest incoming class in Taiwan. Despite the challenges posed by the declining birth rate, Tamkang has maintained strong enrollment performance. President Hui-Huang Hsu extended a warm welcome to the new students and pledged to work alongside all faculty and staff to further advance teaching innovation, strengthen international connections, promote the development of a smart campus, and pursue sustainability. Through these efforts, the university aims to create a more forward-looking and competitive learning environment where every Tamkang student can learn with confidence and thrive.

President Hsu emphasized that Tamkang University has always upheld the spirit of its motto, “Simplicity, Truthfulness, Firmness, and Perseverance,” while cultivating eight core competencies in its students and developing outstanding graduates equipped with professional expertise, humanistic literacy, global perspectives, and a strong sense of social responsibility. He believes that everyone possesses unlimited potential and that the mission of university education extends beyond providing quality educational resources. More importantly, it should inspire critical thinking, cultivate character, help students discover their own values, unlock their potential, and encourage them to explore with courage. He encouraged incoming students to embrace challenges with optimism and explore the unknown with passion throughout their four years at Tamkang. Through every learning experience and opportunity, he hopes they will continue to grow, gradually realize their aspirations, witness their own transformation, and confidently embrace a broader future.

In recent years, Tamkang has adopted “AI+SDGs=∞” and “ESG+AI=∞” as visions for institutional development, advancing digital and sustainable transformation in parallel. AI, interdisciplinary integration, and sustainability have been incorporated into teaching, research, administration, and campus life, producing significant achievements in university governance. Tamkang has ranked first among Taiwan's comprehensive universities for four consecutive years in the number of approved Teaching Practice Research Program projects. In employer-preference surveys, Tamkang has ranked first among private universities for 29 consecutive years in CommonWealth Magazine, has been named the favorite private university by employers for three consecutive years by 1111 Job Bank, and has been ranked the top private university among listed and OTC companies by Global Views Monthly. Internationally, two Tamkang innovation projects were ranked among the global top 100 in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI). In the 2026–2027 U.S. News & World Report rankings, Tamkang ranked first among non-medical private universities in Taiwan, with individual indicators also placing among the world’s top 100.

The outstanding achievements of Tamkang students across a wide range of fields have also continued to draw attention. The Department of Aerospace Engineering won the highest honor, the Platinum Award, at the Green Idea International Invention and Design Fair for the second consecutive year. The Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence captured two championships in the humanoid robot all-around competitions at the 2026 FIRA RoboWorld Cup, with the small humanoid robot team claiming its 15th championship title. Meanwhile, the Photography Club, Seed Tutoring Club, and Cycling Club received the Outstanding Award, Excellence Award, and Best Distinctive Club Activity Award, respectively, at the 2026 National Evaluation and Observation of University and College Student Clubs. The accomplishments of senior students across diverse fields provide incoming students with a wide range of learning pathways and inspiring goals to surpass.

In teaching and learning, Tamkang continues to advance its “All-Cloud Smart Campus 3.0” initiative. By developing an AI knowledge application platform and integrating a range of AI tools, the university is working to enhance the quality of teaching, improve the learning environment and student outcomes, and further develop a student-centered approach to education. These efforts have already begun to produce tangible results. Tamkang has also recently signed MOUs and established strategic partnerships with leading international corporations, including Microsoft Taiwan, AMD, NVIDIA, and Far EasTone Telecommunications, as well as the Big Four accounting firms—PwC, EY, KPMG, and Deloitte—to deepen industry-academia collaboration and jointly cultivate highly qualified professionals for industry.

Commenting on Tamkang’s full enrollment, Dean of Academic Affairs Li-Ren Yang expressed particular appreciation to the university’s academic departments for their support. Throughout the academic year, departments have organized lectures at senior high schools and offered experiential camps to give prospective students an early understanding of their curricula and fields of study. For incoming students, Tamkang also offers departmental preparatory courses during the summer, helping them become familiar with the university environment and begin planning their future studies before the semester starts. Curriculum planning has likewise evolved from an emphasis on knowledge transmission toward an integrated focus on knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Through minors, minor programs, double majors, second majors, diverse interdisciplinary programs, 14 thematic micro-programs, self-directed learning, student club participation, corporate internships, and other opportunities, Tamkang encourages students to pursue cross-disciplinary learning, develop a second specialty, and strengthen their competitiveness in the future workplace.

Dean Yang also noted that, amid the rapid development of AI, learning how to use AI tools effectively has become particularly important for incoming students. In recent years, Tamkang has actively promoted the integration of AI into teaching and curriculum transformation. In addition to helping students learn to make effective use of AI tools, the university emphasizes the importance of qualities that AI cannot replace, including sound judgment, empathy, and humanistic literacy. Through AI ethics education and guidelines for responsible use, Tamkang also seeks to ensure that students use technology thoughtfully and responsibly.
