【Yu-xuan Li, Tamsui Campus Report】The name list for Outstanding Youth has been posted and 15 excellent students will be presented an award by President Flora Chia-I Chang on Dec. 1. There is one student each selected of the colleges of Liberal Arts, Education, International Studies and Global Development, two students of the college of Foreign Languages and Literature, three students of the College of Engineering, and five students of the College of Business and Engineering.

【Yi-feng Lu, An-jia Chen, Tamsui Campus Report】On Nov. 17 Shanghai City Standing Committee Member, Hai-lin Sha and Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Wen-hui Li, brought a team of 9 representatives to Tamkang University’s Chueh-sheng International Conference Hall for an exchange. In attendance was Dean of the College of International Studies, Kao-cheng Wang, Director of the Graduate Institute of China Studies, Wu-ueh Chang, Director of the Institute of Asian Studies, Hsi-hsun Tsai and Director of the Graduate Institute of the Americas, Kwo-wei Kung.

【Tamkang Times 】In order to raise the university’s level of academic development there has been an increase in cross major and academic industry programs. For the 2015-16 school year, 5 subsidy programs have been allocated to the Academic Research Counseling Center, 5 subsidy programs have been awarded to the Professor’s Grants Section of Interdepartment Programs, 5 subsidy programs have been awarded to the Research Team, 6 subsidy programs have been awarded to the Counseling Team of Special Research, 4 subsidy programs have been awarded to the International Association Center and 1 subsidy program has been awarded to the International Academic Cooperation.

【Yu-xuan Zhou, Tamsui Campus Report】The KMT (Chinese Nationalist Party) has announced the name list of legislators-at-large positions on Nov. 20. Tamkang University’s Dean of the Office of Student Affairs, Chih-en Ko, has been nominated as a representative of education and is ranked 2nd. Currently Chih-en Ko is both a professor and research specialist who has also been awarded the Golden Bell Award. Her father is Mayor of Ping Dong County and has made great contributions to Taiwan.

TKU Receive’s AACSB Pre-accreditation

【Zhao-yu Chen, Tamsui Campus Report】On Nov. 11 the College of Business and Management successfully received the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business’s (AACSB) Pre-accreditation and has entered into the two year program to obtain the Standard Level Accreditation. Executive Director of the Business Management AACSB Office, Ku-jun Lin, expressed, “The motto for this plan is making what’s impossible, possible. Applying for the AACSB certification will be a great opportunity for us. It will really put us on the international track while giving us a more competitive edge in the world of higher learning.

【Yu-xuan Li, Zhao-yu Chen, Yu-xuan Zhou, Shi-qing Huang, Tamsui Campus Report】In preparation of the 2015-16 Academic Assessment that will be made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in December, last week Tamkang University gave a report of all the needed revisions. President Flora Chia-I Chang and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Huan-chao Keh, attended to listen and assist with possible suggestions.

【Wan-xuan Qin, Pin-jie Chen, Tamsui Campus Report】Member of Taiwan’s Societe Generale De Surveillance, Mr. Steve Hsieh, and 14 other assessors inspected Taipei, Lanyang and Tamkang Campus from Nov. 18 to 20 for the 2015-16 Energy, Environmental Safety and Sanitary Management certification. In addition to verifying regulations for ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 they also carried out inspection of the ISO50001 Energy Management to get a feel for the effectiveness of the system. The inspectors examined documents as well as the university campus layout and the contents within. After three days of inspections, all of TKU’s energy management system certifications were successfully renewed.
