Generation Sustainability and Social Innovation Forum, Exchanges of Strong Generation Issues

Generation Sustainability and Social Innovation Forum – Need and Industrial Prospect of Strong Generation, co-hosted by Center for Sustainable Development and Social Innovation of TKU and Strong Generation Educational, Scientific and Cultural Association, was held at Chang Yeo Lan International Conference Hall, Hsu Shou-Chlien International Conference Center on November 29. The forum was jointly planned by College of Precision Healthcare, USR projects: “Building Connection of Aging Society between Tamsui and Sanzhi” and “Tamsui Goodlife – Study-Oriented Urban and Rural Construction”, aiming at discussing about how university and society respond to the impact of aging.

Learning City Launched, TKU Assisted in Developing Street Metaverse

On November 27, New Taipei City Government held “New Taipei Learning City Xmas Party” at New Taipei City Plaza. New Taipei City “Learning City Project” and the results of various bureaus and offices promoting lifelong learning were presented, including 4 learning-city-themed scavenger hunts, grand expo with 11 lifelong learning institutions stands and multiple arts exhibition and performances. On behalf of TKU, Vice President for Academic Affairs Hui-Huang Hsu, Professor Rui-Mao Huang from Department of Architecture, Assistant Professor Yu-Pei Ma from Department of Mass Communication, Lecturer Wei-Hsing Chen from Department of Education and Futures Design attended the launching ceremony. You-Yi Hou, Mayor of New Taipei City awarded Certificate of Appreciation to each participating institution. Yu-Pei Ma was awarded, representing TKU.

187th Administrative Meeting, President Keh Expects Strengthening Sustainability and Progressing Unceasingly

The 187th Administrative Meeting was held at Ching-Sheng International Conference Hall on November 25th. President Huan-Chao Keh hosted the meeting, while 3 Vice Presidents, first-level supervisors, and Chief Secretary of Board of Trustees were at present. Taipei Campus and Lanyang Campus attended via synchronous online video. President Keh mentioned AI+SDGs=∞, TKU’s development vision. Currently, TKU is in a leading role of AI development among universities in Taiwan, and should keep it, while in SDGs, there’s still space to progress, which need Center for Sustainable Development and Social Innovation to plan and execute more proactively; the quality of ∞ for university is to make the university better through continuous progress. He hopes that everyone will strive together toward this goal.

College of Engineering Signed Internship Contract with Chintek

With the aim of co-constructing connection between academia and industry, increasing intern opportunities for students, and implementing the philosophy of integration of learning and application, College of Engineering signed internship contract with Chintek Technology Co., Ltd. at the reality field of College of Artificial Intelligence Innovation on December 2nd. Tzung-Hang Lee, Dean of College of Engineering and College of Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Chang-Ming Qin, Chairman and President of Chintek signed the contract on behalf of each side. Both sides will collaborate to provide TKU students with intern environment of high quality, and to upgrade their instant capability in the workplace.

69th Annual Meeting of Taiwan Institute of Chemical Engineers (TwIChE) held in TKU

Hosted by TKU Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, the 69th Annual Meeting of TwIChE was held on Tamsui Campus on December 2-3. The Meeting was held together with Conference of Chemical Engineer Division, National Science and Technology Council, and 2022 Taiwan- Japan-Korea-Czech International Seminar on Chemical Engineer (TJKC-ISCE). The annual meeting of TwIChE has always been a grand event for the exchanges between domestic chemical engineer academia and industry, aiming at promoting academia-industrial collaboration and improving domestic research capability and competitiveness in international market.

President Keh Visited the U.S., Signing 1 More Partner Institution

Aiming at promoting exchanges with partner institutions and enhancing the solidarity of the alumni, President Huan-Chao Keh, together with Chairperson Flora Chia-I Chang, Vice President for International Affairs Hsiao-Chuan Chen, President of Tamkang University Alumni Association Headquarters, Lawrence Lin, Dean of College of Business and College Li-Ren Yang, Executive Director of Office of Alumni Service & Resources Development Chun-Young Perng, and Chief of International and Cross-Strait Exchange Section, Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs, Acid Chu, visited partner institutions in the U.S. from November 25 and December 9. The trip is expected to promote bilateral exchanges between TKU and partner institutions. Besides having lunch gathering with the alumni in America, President Keh also signed an agreement on academic exchanges with University of Massachusetts Lowell, the alma mater of Lawrence Lin, to establish partnership.

Warm-hearted Tamkangians Tell Story of Houtong

A professional service learning curriculum offered by Center for General Education and Core Curriculum, “Exploring Dance as Nonverbal Communication Through Environment” collaborated with “The Art and Practice on Music Cooperation” a course offered by Stanley Wang D-School @NTU, and Houtong Miner’s Culture and History Exhibition to present the life stories shared by old miners through dance and music production. The performance named “Flashback” (返照) was presented twice. The premiere of the performance was at Carrie Chang Music Hall on December 3. Dean of Office of Academic Affairs Tzong-Ru Tsai, Director of Center for General Education and Core Curriculum Chia-Jwu Tai, Executive of Tamsui District Arthur Tsung-Jen Wu, Executive of Pingxi District Fan-Sheng Zeng, President Zheng-Fu Lin and founder Chao-Nan Zhou of Houtong Miner’s Culture and Literature Exhibition, Chief Secretary of Youth Department, New Taipei City Government, Qi-Rui Jiang and numerous members of Houtong Miner’s Culture and History Association watched the performance.

Faculty and Students from Western Sydney University (WSU) Come to Visit, Exchanges of Sustainability and Experience of Taiwan

Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs, Department of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering and Department of Civil Engineering of College of Engineering co-hosted West Sydney University Students Short-term Workshop in TKU 2022 from December 6 to 17. The opening ceremony was held at Hsu Shou-Chlien International Conference Center on December 6. Vice President for Academic Affairs Hui-Huang Hsu, Dean of College of Engineering Tzung-Hang Lee, Chair of Department of Civil Engineering Zon-Yee Yang, Academic Program Advisor of WSU, Dr. Robert Salama, and 11 students were at present.

Energy-Saving Benchmark, Tamkang Won Gold

Tamkang University won the gold medal of Energy Saving Leadership Award 2022. On behalf of TKU, Vice President for Administrative Affairs Chun-Hung Lin was awarded by Minister of Economic Affairs Mei-Hua Wang at 2022 Energy Saving Award Ceremony on December 7. On November 5, the anniversary celebration day of TKU, Dean Ruey-Hsiang Shaw and staff of Office of General Affairs shoot a video to declare their determination for “2050 Net Zero Emissions, Sustainable Campus, AI+SDGs=∞”.
