Malaysian Students' Association Organized a Spring Outing to Cultivate Artistic Atmosphere

The Malaysian Student Association organized a spring outing from April 6th to 7th, and over 10 students went on a trip to Tainan City, Taiwan, spending 2 days and 1 night of joyful time together, enhancing friendship.

Advertising Godmother Sandra Yu: Failure and Training are Two Sides of the Same Coin

"Leaving the Comfort Zone, Challenging the Summit, Creating the Next Peak in Life." The History Department organized a celebrity career lecture, where adjunct associate professor Yueh-O Lee invited Advertising godmother Sandra Yu to speak on April 11th in Ching-Sheng International Conference Hall. The topic of the lecture was "The Girl from the Back Mountain," where she shared her journey from being a switchboard operator to becoming the CEO of a multinational advertising and media conglomerate. She also discussed how she overcame the challenges of dealing with a brain tumor at the peak of her career, and eventually founded her own media company. Approximately 70 faculty and students attended the lecture.

The Secretariat encourages everyone to make good use of audiovisual tools to record their memories and learning experiences at Tamkang University, cultivate observation skills, creativity, and teamwork, express their thoughts, and unleash their creativity. A special 'Brilliant Tamkang' short film competition is now open for submissions until May 20th, welcoming individual or team entries from students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

The 11th Departmental Development Award: 10 Departments Shortlisted for Final Review

The shortlist for the 11th Departmental Development Award was recently announced, and the departments that have been shortlisted for final review are the Department of Japanese, Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, Department of Architecture, Department of Aerospace Engineering, Department of Banking and Finance, Department of Educational Technology, Graduate Institute of Educational Psychology and Counseling, Department of Statistics, Graduate Institute of International Affairs and Strategic Studies, and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. These departments will compete for a reward of NT$150,000. The final review meeting will be held at 2:00 PM on May 17th at HC305 and HC306 in Shou-Chlien International Conference Center. The results will be announced at a subsequent university-wide meeting, and the awards will be presented by President Keh himself.

President Keh Attends 55th Anniversary Celebration of the Alumni Association of TKU in Japan to Offer Congratulations

The Alumni Association of Tamkang University in Japan held its 55th anniversary celebration on April 1st, and President Huan-Chao Keh, Vice President for International Affairs Hsiao-Chuan Chen, Executive Director of Alumni Services and Resource Development Chun-Young Perng, and President of the Alumni Association of Tamkang University in Japan Hai-Chun Mo specially attended to offer congratulations. Deputy Representative Ming-Yaw Tsai from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Japan, as well as former President Nakayama Osamu and Vice President Horiuchi Kazunobu from partner school Reitaku University, were also present to join the celebration. The event was filled with enthusiastic interactions and exchanges among alumni, exchange students, and other attendees.

Chemistry Department and FOCI Signed a MOU for Industry-Academia Collaboration

On March 30th, the Department of Chemistry at our university signed a MOU for industry-academia collaboration and talent development with FOCI Fiber Optic Communications Inc. The signing ceremony was held in Chung-ling Chemistry Hall. The MOU was signed by Assistant Professor Chung-Hung Hsieh on behalf of the Department of Chemistry, and Mr. Jeffrey Wang, Vice President of FOCI. In the future, both parties will collaborate long-term to implement talent development programs and conduct research and industry-academia cooperation together with faculty and students from the Department of Chemistry. Professors Bo-Cheng Wang and Professor Chih-Hsin Chen from the Department of Chemistry also participated in the signing ceremony.

Physics Department Visits an Alumnus, Chairman Wei Been Yu at iST

Dean Tzenge-Lian Shih of the College of Science, Dean of Research and Development Hung-Chung Hsueh, Chair of Department of Physics Cheng-Hao Chuang, and 6 faculty members from Physics department visited the Chairman of Integrated Services Technology Inc., Mr. Wei Been Yu, a physics department alumnus, together on March 22nd. iST is a laboratory for verification and analysis of electronic industry (chip doctor), providing IC debugging, analysis, quality assurance, and serving as a R&D partner for customers to speed-up the time to market. The company has more than 1000 employees.

Otaru City Delegation Visits Tamsui to Exchange Experiences in Tourism Promotion and Local Revitalization

Led by Mr. Tashiya Hazama, the Mayor of Otaru City, Japan, a delegation from Otaru City including members from the Otaru Japan-Taiwan Friendship Association, Otaru Tourism Association, and Otaru Chamber of Commerce and Industry, visited Tamsui on March 24 to promote Taiwan-Japan relations, expand cultural exchanges between the business circles of Taiwan and Japan, promote tourism after the pandemic, and share experiences of local revitalization. They were received by Ho-Ran Liu, the Deputy Mayor of New Taipei City, and Arthur Tsung-Jen Wu, the District Executive of Tamsui. Professor Rui-Mao Huang from the Department of Architecture and Assistant Professor Yu-Pei Ma from the Department of Mass Communication at our university, also members of Tamsui Good Days (TKU USR project), led students to participate in the exchange.

Administrative Personnel Skills Training – Shih-Hsin Chu on Emotional Management and Stress Adaptation

As part of the "Administrative Staff Training Program" organized by the Office of Human Resources, a lecture was held on March 27th at the Ching-Sheng International Conference Hall. The keynote speaker was Ms. Shih-Hsin Chu, a consulting psychologist and the founder of Howmatch Consulting Company (好合顧問公司). The topic was "Emotional Management and Stress Adaptation".
