Otaru City Delegation Visits Tamsui to Exchange Experiences in Tourism Promotion and Local Revitalization
Led by Mr. Tashiya Hazama, the Mayor of Otaru City, Japan, a delegation from Otaru City including members from the Otaru Japan-Taiwan Friendship Association, Otaru Tourism Association, and Otaru Chamber of Commerce and Industry, visited Tamsui on March 24 to promote Taiwan-Japan relations, expand cultural exchanges between the business circles of Taiwan and Japan, promote tourism after the pandemic, and share experiences of local revitalization. They were received by Ho-Ran Liu, the Deputy Mayor of New Taipei City, and Arthur Tsung-Jen Wu, the District Executive of Tamsui. Professor Rui-Mao Huang from the Department of Architecture and Assistant Professor Yu-Pei Ma from the Department of Mass Communication at our university, also members of Tamsui Good Days (TKU USR project), led students to participate in the exchange.
Physics Department Visits an Alumnus, Chairman Wei Been Yu at iST
Dean Tzenge-Lian Shih of the College of Science, Dean of Research and Development Hung-Chung Hsueh, Chair of Department of Physics Cheng-Hao Chuang, and 6 faculty members from Physics department visited the Chairman of Integrated Services Technology Inc., Mr. Wei Been Yu, a physics department alumnus, together on March 22nd. iST is a laboratory for verification and analysis of electronic industry (chip doctor), providing IC debugging, analysis, quality assurance, and serving as a R&D partner for customers to speed-up the time to market. The company has more than 1000 employees.

The 11th Departmental Development Award: 10 Departments Shortlisted for Final Review
The shortlist for the 11th Departmental Development Award was recently announced, and the departments that have been shortlisted for final review are the Department of Japanese, Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, Department of Architecture, Department of Aerospace Engineering, Department of Banking and Finance, Department of Educational Technology, Graduate Institute of Educational Psychology and Counseling, Department of Statistics, Graduate Institute of International Affairs and Strategic Studies, and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. These departments will compete for a reward of NT$150,000. The final review meeting will be held at 2:00 PM on May 17th at HC305 and HC306 in Shou-Chlien International Conference Center. The results will be announced at a subsequent university-wide meeting, and the awards will be presented by President Keh himself.
