Reenacting the Lanyang Freshman Opening Ceremony - Toast at the High Table Dinner in Tamsui

After several years of suspension due to the pandemic, the “High Table Dinner" of the Center for Holistic Education made a comeback as the departments and offices on Lanyang campus returned to the Tamsui campus. The event took place at 5:45 PM on October 4th in the Student Activity Center. The attendees included several senior supervisors such as Vice President for Academic Affairs Hui-Huang Hsu, Vice President for Administrative Affairs Chun-Hung Lin, and Vice President of International Affairs Hsiao-Chuan Chen. Additionally, it was attended by the Executive Secretary of the Center for Holistic Education and Dean of the College of International Studies, Dr. Cheng-Hao Bao, Director of International Affairs Chien-Mu Yeh, Dean of Student Affairs Shih-Jung Wu, chairs of the departments of International Tourism Management, Global Politics and Economics, Computer Science and Information Engineering, and English, and 23 full-time faculty members, making a total of nearly 320 students and teachers present at the event.

Elites of the Executive Master's Program in Asia-Pacific Studies Attend In-Person Classes in Taiwan with Guatemalan FM as A Newcomer to TKU

Including the Foreign Minister of Guatemala, Mario Adolfo Bucaro Flores, 14 political elites from various Latin American countries arrived in Taiwan on October 1st for the in-person classes of the first year of the E-Learning Executive Master's Program in Asia-Pacific Studies of the Department of Global Politics and Economics at Tamkang University. They attended a banquet hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 4th and departed from Taiwan on the 7th.

Meeting for Students with Disabilities & Their Parents to Provide Consultations on Learning and Life

The Resource Center for the Visually Impaired hosted the " Meeting for Students with Disabilities & Their Parents for the Fall Semester of 2023 Academic Year" on October 4 in the Ching-Sheng International Conference Hall. The meeting was presided over by President Huan-Chao Keh. Representatives from various offices, including the Office of Academic Affairs, Office of Student Affairs, General Affairs Office, Library, and others, attended the meeting to engage in discussions with students and parents. Nearly a hundred people participated in the event.

Visit from Yokohama High School in Japan for Overseas Learning & Exchanges

Our alliance high school in Japan, Yokohama High School's Principal, Kurazo Kevin KATSURA, Secretary Hiroko MORIKUBO, Enrollment Commissioner Masakazu Matt SATO, and PR Secretary Keiko MAKINO, accompanied by the Domestic Officer of Taiwan Education Center in Japan, Sheng-Fen Hsu, visited our school on October 3. During their visit, they toured our campus and teaching facilities, met with Haruka Yokoyama, an alumna of Yokohama High school, currently studying in the Department of Diplomacy and International Relations at our school, and explored potential collaboration opportunities.

Chairperson Chang & President Keh Awarded the Outstanding Educator & Outstanding President of Private Schools, Respectively

The results of the "7th Outstanding Private School Educators and 3rd Outstanding President Selection", organized by the Association of Taiwan Private School Culture and Education R.O.C., were announced on October 4. Our school's Chairperson Flora Chia-I Chang and President Huan-Chao Keh were awarded the titles of Outstanding Educator and Outstanding President, respectively. Tamkang is the only school to receive both awards, adding another achievement to the university which has shown excellent performance in recent years. The award ceremony will be on December 21 at the International Conference Hall of the Center for Public and Business Administration Education at National Chengchi University.

Metaverse+AI: TKU Hosts Intercollege USR Forum, Emphasizing Local Humanistic Care

In order to preserve local historical and cultural heritage and apply it across various disciplines, our university's USR project team, “Exploring the Charms of Tamsui and the North Coast: A Holistic Land and Sea Travel Experience,”(淡北風情e線、海陸旅遊全體驗) organized the “Intercollege USR SIG Forum - When Local Deep Cultivation Meets the Metaverse and AI Big Data” on September 23rd at the Hsu Shou-Chlien International Conference Center. The forum invited scholars and experts from both within and outside the university to combine their expertise with historical elements and present a series of research findings in local studies, applied history, metaverse, creative graphics, and AI big data. The goal is to inject new vitality into local historical and cultural heritage.

International Affairs Office Distributes Mooncakes, Inviting Overseas Students to Experience Mid-Autumn Festival

In celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the International and Mainland Students Guidance Section of the Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs organized the 2023 Overseas Student Mid-Autumn Cultural Celebration event to help international students understand the festival and experience Chinese culture and the festive atmosphere. The event took place on September 27th at 12:00 PM in the 10th-floor lobby of the Ching-Sheng Building. A total of 250 mooncakes were prepared for overseas students who attended the event. The event began with the host explaining the origin of the Mid-Autumn Festival and its related customs. Subsequently, the staff distributed mooncakes, and the lobby was bustling with students queuing up to receive their mooncakes. Each student held a mooncake in their hands, and their faces were filled with bright smiles, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere.

Underwater Detection Technology Course Graduation Ceremony - Certificates Awarded to 17 Participants

The Center for Ocean and Underwater Technology Research (TKU-COUTR), commissioned by the Bureau of Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture, organized an Underwater Detection Technology training program to cultivate professionals in underwater cultural assets. On September 23rd, the graduation ceremony was held at the Nanhai Administrative Office of National Museum of History, where certificates of completion were awarded to 17 participants.

The 13th QCC Competition Kicks Off - Welcome to Team up & Compete for Honor

To enhance the quality of education and services at our university and encourage academic and administrative units to develop and improve business-related issues, our university are organizing a Quality Control Circle (QCC) Competition. On September 27th, at 2:00 PM, an orientation for the Competition was held, where relevant details were explained, experiences were shared, and questions were answered. The registration for the Competition is open until October 6th. Active participation from university departments and student teams are welcome. Visit from UML for Active Discussions on Dual-Degree Programs

From our sister school, the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UML), President Julie Chen, along with Vice President John Feudo, Distinguished Professor from the Francis College of Engineering, Dr. Ramaswamy Nagarajan, and the Office of Research and Innovation's Technical Project Manager, Dr. Claire Lepont, visited our campus on September 27th. They toured the campus, engaged in discussions, and explored diverse collaboration opportunities. The President of the Tamkang University Alumni Association Headquarters and Honorary Doctorate of UML, Dr. Lawrence Lin, attended the visit as a special guest.
