TKU Participates in the 2023 USR Exhibition of Engaged Scholarship, North Taiwan to Showcase the Features & Results of 5 Projects

The 2023 USR Exhibition of Engaged Scholarship, North Taiwan, organized by the National Taiwan University System, was held at the National Taiwan University Sports Center on October 6-7. This event is a collaborative effort among National Taiwan University, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, National Taiwan Normal University, National Taiwan Ocean University, Chang Gung University of Science and Technology, and our university. It features over 30 universities and colleges with nearly 70 booths showcasing distinctive university practices in social responsibility and sustainable operations for exhibition and exchange.

Environmental Safety Center Occupational Safety Lecture on Emotional Management & Positive Thinking

Center for Environmental Protection, Safety and Health held the first lecture of the "Workplace Misconduct Lecture Series " on October 12th. They invited Mr. Yan-Hao Zeng, the Expression Training Director of Begin Creative and well-known Youtuber "Mr. Ou Yeah," to speak on the topic of "Emotional Management + Positive Thinking." Mr. Zeng combined the concepts of emotional management with his past counseling experiences to guide colleagues on how to reduce negative emotions and transform excessive stress into positive beliefs when facing various conflicts and work pressures. This, in turn, helps enhance work motivation. Over 50 faculty and staff members and students participated, with the event being broadcast simultaneously on Taipei campus via video.

TKU Co-organized AFPN9

The 9th Asia-Pacific Futures Network Conference (APFN9) was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on September 18-19. Tamkang played a co-organizing role, with full-time visiting research fellow Inayatullah Sohail Tahir, Assistant Professor Nur Anisah Binti Abdullah, PhD. students Bo-Da Chen and Bangladesh Shakil Ahmed from the Department of Education and Futures Design in attendance to present papers.

Aerospace Engineering Department Hosts the CubeSat Competition, 3 teams from TKU Advanced to the Semi-finals

Organized by Taiwan Space Agency (TASA) and hosted by our university's Department of Aerospace Engineering, the "5th CubeSat Mission Design Competition" will take place on October 30th at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 2. The 10 teams that have advanced to the semi-finals will present their reports in English.

Freshman Cup Table Tennis Match: Yutang Kao Secures Gold & Silver Medals

The Freshman Cup has begun! On the evening of October 4 in Room SG322 of the Table Tennis Hall, the 112th academic year's Table Tennis Freshman Cup and Open Tournament took place. This event marks the first competition in this year's Freshman Cup for various sports, with matches held in the Freshman Men's Singles and Open Men's Singles categories. Due to the influence of a typhoon, the semi-finals had been postponed to October 11th to determine the winners. In the end, Yu-Tang Kao, a freshman from the AI department secured the championship in the Freshman Men's Singles and the runner-up position in the Open Men's Singles. Meanwhile, Bo-Hsiang Hsu, a first-year graduate student in the Information Management program, claimed the championship in the Open Men's Singles category.

29 TKU Scholars Listed in the New Rankings of World Top 2% Scientists

According to the latest "World's Top 2% Scientists 2023" list released by Stanford University in the United States on October 4, our university has 23 scholars honored in the "Lifetime Scientific Impact Rankings (1960-2022)" and 13 scholars included in the "Most Influential Scientist Impact Rankings (Single Year 2022)." Among them, 7 scholars were listed on both rankings, making a total of 29 scholars included.

President & Chairperson of the Board Visit Beijing to Strengthen Industry-academia Exchange

On October 7 to 12, President Huan-Chao and Chairperson Flora Chia-I Chang led a delegation to Beijing. They were accompanied by Vice President for International Affairs Hsiao-Chuan Chen, Dean of the Colleges of Engineering, AI Intelligence, and Precision Health Tzung-Hang Lee, Chief Information Officer Chin-Hwa Kuo, and the Secretary of the President's Office Hsiang Chuan Chang. During the trip, they visited Microsoft Asia-Pacific R&D Group (ARD) headquarters and sister institutions - Beihang University (BUAA) and Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), to engage in knowledge sharing and exchanges.

Chih-Hsin Chen & Po-Shen Pan Receive Gold Award in Taiwan Innotech Expo

From the Department of Chemistry, Chair Chih-Hsin Chen and Associate Professor Po-Shen Pan 's team participated in the 2023 Taiwan Innotech Expo held from October 12 to 14 at the Taipei World Trade Center. Dr. Chen was awarded a gold medal for the invention competition with the research theme “The system and Methods for Sensing Ammonia Gas,” and Dr. Pan received a gold medal for the research topic “Preparation Method of Tetraboronic Acid Compounds, and Tetraboronic Acid Compounds.” Both projects have already obtained patents in the Republic of China.

International Affairs Office Attends the Higher Education Expo in Vietnam to Recruit Prospective Tamkang Freshmen

"Internationalization" is one of the Triple Objectives of Education of our university. Recruiting international students and promoting international exchange and learning have always been our goals. In line with the government's New Southbound Policy, we have strengthened our enrollment efforts in Southeast Asian countries and have seen initial results. Many students from this region have enrolled at our university, with a significant number coming from Indonesia. In recent years, we have continued to promote our efforts, with a particular focus on countries like Vietnam, in the hope of attracting more students to study at Tamkang University.

Alumni Association Headquarters: Lawrence Lin Passes the Torch to Tsang-Jiang Chen, and 26 Outstanding Alumni from Various Industries Including Yi-Lin Huang Selected

The 14th General Meeting of Tamkang University Alumni Association Headquarters was held on October 14 and 15, with alumni representatives from across the country gathering in Taichung City. The alumni conference on the 14th took place at Le Meridien Hotel in Taichung, with nearly 600 alumni from various counties and cities nationwide coming together. Mayor of Taichung Shiow-Yen Lu, an outstanding alumnus of our university, personally welcomed the alumni. During the meeting, a new Alumni Association President was elected. As the 13th-term President, Lawrence Lin, passed on the responsibility to Tsang-Jiang Chen, the former President of the Alumni Association in Kinmen. Chen will lead the Alumni Association into a brighter era. Additionally, President Huan-Chao Keh personally presented certificates to the Outstanding Alumni, Lawrence Lin awarded the Crystal Memorial Trophy, and Chairperson Flora Chia-I Chang expressed gratitude to Lawrence Lin for uniting the alumni and congratulated the award-winning alumni.
