A Life-long Career Study Passport Will Soon be issued to TKU Staff to Keep and Follow

To answer to an administrative call from the Executive Yuan, also to instigate TKU staff to embark on a lifetime study program, a draft entitled “TKU Staff Study Plan for a Life-long Career Passport” was proposed and discussed in the 79th TKU administrative meeting. Although it was not passed, a more detailed and comprehensive plan will be promulgated soon for TKU staff to observe.

A team led by Pres. & Mrs. Liu Chung-shu and his entourage including Ms. Huang Mang-ping, Deputy Director of the Printing Press, Jiling University, China, visited TKU last Tuesday (March 19). Powerfully resembling Chairman Jiang Ze-min with his horn-ringed glasses, Pres. Liu told us, “I’m looking forward to a day when our school will tie a friendship knot with TKU.”

A team led by Pres. Chang Choong-sik and two professors visited Dr. Clement C.P. Chang, Founder of Tamkang University, on March 22. After having visited Chueh Sheng Memorial Library and Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center, he paid his compliments to the amenities of TKU campus and said, “One could expect to live here until one is 150 years old.”

A Total of 500 TKU Faculty and Staff Will Attend the Quality Control Conference Presided over by Dr.

Starting 8:30 AM today (March 25), a 2001-2002 School-Year Comprehensive Quality Control Symposium will be held at the International Conference Rooms, Ching Sheng Memorial Hall and Chueh Sheng Memorial Hall respectively, but at a different 2-time slots, one in the morning; the other in the afternoon.

13 Students of Tamkang U. Will be Cited Publicly as Role Models for Moral Character and Community Se

The Chinese Youth Corps, in celebrating the Youth Day, has selected 354 students from colleges and universities to be cited publicly as role models for their moral character and social services. In TKU, 13 students were chosen and Chen Chien-hao (Senior, Mass Communications), also a correspondent of Tamkang Times, will represent them to accept the awards to be handed over by Mr. Yu Chen-hsien, Minister of Internal Affairs, on March 27 at the Armed Forces Social Club, Taipei. On the following day (March 28), Pres. Chen Shui-bian will summon Chen along with other honored youths to give them a handshake and a pat on the shoulder for the good work they have done.

Tamkang U. Will Participate in the 2002 Intercollegiate Athletic Games

The 2002 Intercollegiate Athletic Games will be held from March 29 (Friday) to April 2 at the I Shou University, Kaohsiung. A ritual in which Pres. Chang Horng-jihn will hand the flag over to the sports teams representing TKU is to be held at the Activity Center on March 26 at 11:30 AM. It bespeaks Pres. Chang Horng-jihn’s sincere hope that the team may bring back as many gold medals as they can.

A Cultural Show about 14 Domicile Countries of the Chinese Overseas Students Starts as of March 26 T

An Exhibition showing the cultural facets of 14 countries in which students studying at TKU make their homes will be held at the Exhibition Hall, Business & Management Building as of March 26 until Thursday (March 28). A special note about the interesting event: a contest featuring the hottest food will be held on Thursday. The one whose taste bug is so strong as to tolerate the most pungent food will be crowned the champion of the contest.

But the admitted contingency for both institutes is appallingly low: only 10 for each.
