27 Vocational High School Headmasters Will Visit TKU on April 22

The Educational Technology Department, College of Education, will invite 27 vocational high schools’ headmasters from Tao Yuan hsien today (April 22) from 10:00 to 12:00 AM to visit TKU campus. On their tour they will be led by Dr. Wang Chein-hua, Chair, Department of Educational Technology to visit the Information Processing Center to look at their soft-and-hardware apparatus. Then they will tour around Distance Teaching classrooms, Educational Development Center and Chueh Sheng Memorial Library, etc. They will also be led to see Dr. Clement C.P. Chang., Founder of TKU who will give them a luncheon party at Kuan Hai Restaurant at noon.

As invited by Ministry of Education, Pres. Chang Horng-jinh attended a symposium “The First Australian-Taiwan Conference on Higher Education” held in early April at Adelaide College, Australia. Many dignitaries from Taiwan attended the meeting, including Dr. Lee Yuan-tse, Director, Academia Sinica, Dr. Lu Mu-lin, Deputy Minister, MOE, and 16 presidents from Tai Ta, Shih Ta, etc. Pres. Chang delivered a speech on April 8 on a special subject. Under the sub-topic “The Guarantee and Pursuance of Quality Control over College Education and Academic Research”, he chose a subject “The Commercialization Trend in Academic Research Products in Taiwan”. His speech had aroused a spontaneous response from the conferees.

A statistics released by National Science Council, ROC, shows that a total of 253 Special Research proposals submitted by TKU for 2002 were approved. The fund dispensed at once is worth more than NT$137,000,000.00, topping the other 7 private universities, a record which we should really be proud of.
