AUSTRIA’S FORMER VICE PRIME MINISTER ANALYZES THE EUROPEAN UNION AT TAMKANG

Dr. Erhard Busek, Austria’s former Vice Prime Minister and the Ambassador at European Union (EU), is invited by Graduate Institute of European Studies and will arrive at Tamkang at 12:30 on Nov. 21, will immediately meet Founder Clement C. P. Chang and President Flora C. I. Chang. A lecture on “Current Situation of EU” will be given at the Carrie Chang Music Hall at 2:10 p.m.

CONFERENCE ON NANO AND MICRO-MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ON WEDNESDAY

Co-hosted by the Department of Mechanical and Electro-mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering, the International Conference on Nano and Micro-Mechanical and Electrical System will be open on Wednesday (Nov. 23). International scholars coming to present projects and lectures including Osamu Tabata (Kyoto University, Japan), Jan Eijkel (Twente Uni-versity, Holland), Teerachai Pornsin-sirirak (Vice Director of Center of Nano-Technology, Thailand), Hideaki Imura (Kumamoto University, Japan), Hisayuki Aoyama (University of Electro-Communications), and Lee Yi-kuan (Hong Kong Technology University, China).

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON DEVELOPMENT OF MICRO-ORGANIC FUNCTION ON FRIDAY

The Life Science Development Center and Graduate Institute of Life Sciences (College of Sciences) will hold the “2005’s International Conference on the Development of Micro-organic Function” this Friday (Nov. 25). The conference takes place at the Chung-ling Chemistry Hall (Q409) in the morning, and at the Ching-sheng Building T701 in the afternoon, with six lectures to be presented; posters and papers related to the conference will be exhibited at the Chung-ling Chemistry Hall C103 on Nov. 26.

WU MOW-KUEN HAS A SPEECH FOR MATERIALS SCIENCE ANNUAL MEETING

The Nanometer Science and Technology Center and Department of Physics, College of Science are to host the “2005 Taiwan Materials Science Annual Meeting” at Room S104 in Liu-hsien Memorial Science Hall and Chung Ling Chemistry Hall on this Friday and Saturday (November 25, 26). The activities of the symposium include speeches, oral presentation, paper reading, and instrumentation equipment demonstration. Besides, President C. I. Chang and the committee chairman of National Science Council, Dr. Wu Mow-kuen are invited to make addresses.

NON-VISUAL FRIENDLY SPACE IN TKU IS GOING TO BE COMPLETED:

People who pass by Business and Management Building will notice the construction site near the parking lot in back of the Building. The site, constructed by TKU and at its final stage of construction, will become “Stone Garden” and “Coffee Stop of the Blinds” for blind students of TKU. Jeng Hoang-ell, Associate Professor of Dept. of Architecture, who is in charge of the design for this friendly space, indicates that after the construction is completed, TKU will be the first university to offer land to create the “friendly space”.
