CHEER: TKU HAS WON IN “ENTREPRENEURS’ FAVORITE GRADUATES” SURVEY FOR THE TWELFTH TIME
Cheer magazine announced the list of ranking in the “2009 Survey of 1000 Entrepreneurs’ Favorite Graduates.”

Good news for TKU’s would-be graduates! The result of “2009 Survey of 1000 Entrepreneurs’ Favorite Graduates,” done by Cheer magazine, was announced. TKU has been ranked as No. 1 among private universities for the twelfth time, and deemed as No. 8 among all universities. Among the 8 evaluated categories, TKU graduates beat graduates of many national universities in “Team Spirit” and “Stability and Stamina”—ranking No. 4, and No. 5, respectively. As to the fields of entrepreneur, TKU graduates are rated most favorable in “Finance” and “Services”—No. 4, and No. 5 respectively.

DEPT. OF AEROSPACE ENGINEERING WON SECOND PLACE IN UAV DESIGN COMPETITION
Dept. of Aerospace Engineering participated the “2009 Taiwan Robot Aircraft Design Competition,” and won the second place in “Out of Sight UAV Design Competition.”

Directed by Dr. Ma Ter-ming of Dept. of Aerospace Engineering, Chen Pei-chung, third year graduate student, and Lin Yuan-chung, an alumnus of the department, participated the “2009 Taiwan Robot Aircraft Design Competition,” and won the second place in “Out of Sight UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) Design Competition.” Dr. Ma encourages more students to join the competition and use their imagination to utilize and practice what they have learned in school.

CELEBRATING EASTER WITH COLORFUL EASTER EGGS

The Easter Party, hosted by English Conversation Club, took place at Chueh Hsuan Guest House on March 23, in which an Easter Egg Painting Contest was held. All the participants used their imagination, drawing the white eggs and Styrofoam balls with colorful painting of animals and human faces.

DEPT. OF FRENCH HELD THE RESULT PRESENTATION OF CREATIVE READING WORKSHOP

Dept. of French held the result presentation of Creative Reading Workshop at B425 on March 26. Instructed by Dr. Hsu Hun-hui, Associate Prof. of Dept. of French, students racked their brains to present their learning from the class with creativity. Dr. Hsu indicated that this Creative Reading Workshop has been carried out for four years, and its main purpose is to think out of box and to popularize the idea of creative learning. Moreover, the French foreign students can correct the pronunciation for Taiwanese students, helping them speak standard and fluent French.

NAGASAKI UNIVERSITY PROFESSORS VISITED TKU

Dr. Lien Ching-jyi, Vice Dean of College of Environmental Studies, Nagasaki University, leading a visiting group consisted of seven persons, visited Tamkang University on March 19, 2009. The visitors from Japan were warmly welcomed by Dr. Tai Wan-chin, Vice President for International Affairs, Director of the Office of International Exchanges and International Education, Dr. Lee Pei-wha. Dr. Tsui Cheng-tsong, Chair of the Department of Chinese, Dr. Wang Bo-cheng, Chair of the Department of Chemistry, together with Dr. Wang San-lang, Chair of the Graduate Institute of Life Sciences were also among the group to receive the visiting scholars.

TKU LIBRARY HAS INTERLIBRARY LOAN AGREEMENT WITH 29 LIBRARIES NATIONWIDE

To provide its faculty, staff and students more opportunity to access to latest information, Tamkang University library has signed interlibrary loan agreement with many universities in the country. The first contract was signed with Taiwan University in the year 2001. So far, TKU has similar agreement with more than 23 colleges and universities, and six libraries under the Academia Sinica around the country.

2009 TKU JOB FAIR ATTRACTS THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS
2009 TKU Job Fair held in TKU Tamsui campus on March 26, attracting thousands of students to take part in.

Thousands of Tamkang students attended 2009 TKU Job Fair held in the Tamsui campus on March 26. Chu Pei-ying, Section Chief of the Career Planning and Placement Section noted that there were fewer attending companies in the 2009 Fair. But surprisingly, attending companies had received more resumes this year. According to the statistics provided by the fair organizer, attending companies of the fair has received a total number of 8759 resumes. The number is seen a 618 increase in comparison with the previous year. “This can show that TKU students are actively engaged in seeking working opportunities, which is a good sign.”

The result of “2009 Awards of Outstanding Collegiate Young,”, was announced by China Youth Corps, and 14 TKU students won the prize. Ku Han-ting, a senior of Dept. of Economics, has represented TKU to join the nationwide award ceremony at Chientan Youth Activity Center on March 27, while Liu Feng-chi, a senior of Dept. of Management Sciences and Decision Making, has represented TKU to participate in the county award ceremony at Banciao Junior High School on March 29.
